regarding how integral money is to Gatsby's life - it functions as both the key that unlocking Daisy's
heart in the present and the door that closes on Gatsby's beautiful future with Daisy years ago. Although
most contemporary audiences advocate how worthless money is toward characterization, both the author
and Lord understands how money is a tool that highlights one's character traits and motivations. Whether
it is corporate greed or philanthropic selflessness, love and affection cannot escape money's grasp - ask
Gatsby, the man who chased after two green lights: Daisy and Money.
