Life Well Lived Essay
There are nearly an infinite number of factors that go into a life. What makes that
life well lived is the impact that it has on others. A huge component of that is the family
that surrounds it. Not only the family that we are given, but the family we get to choose.
The people who make us smile, and sometimes frown. How meaningful a life is, is
directly related to how much we mean to others. How much we affect others with our
actions. How much happiness we give the world. It has been said that the most
intimidating part of life is that it is too short, despite the fact that living is the longest
thing we will ever do. However, it is in the minds and hearts of our family and friends
that we live on. The more of an impact we have on others, the longer we live on. This is
why the lives of men such as Martin Luther King Jr. and George Washington have been
well lived. Through their actions, they have made an impact on so many lives that they
live on in textbooks, and in the lives of everyone. We as humans cannot live forever, but
we can impact the world in a way that makes us immortal. For a life to be well lived, the
impact it had must outlive the life. The impact can manifest itself in many ways, from
changing laws to saving lives to philanthropy. It does not have to be a major impact,
simply raising your own kids can result in a life well lived. Regardless, a life is well lived
if it affects the lives around them in a lasting, positive way.
