So today I am going to talk about my local community Vilnius and what
challenges surround us. Actually, I think that all the problems, which will be discussed later, aren’t only the problems of Vilnius and we can find them all over the Lithuania. The first challenge I would like to mention is littering. Probably everyone is at least once lazy to go to the bin and throw away an unnecessary item and then that thing goes on the ground. It seems that once you do this, nothing will happen, however, because everyone thinks so, it becomes a sensitive problem for our nature and landscape and we also don’t have fun to live around the rubbish. Well, I can say that now this problem is certainly sufficiently diminished and people often if they sees a garbage dropped on the ground, takes it and throws it to the bin. We can’t forget the clean-up campaigns which is organised every year and it is supported by many local volunteers. Also, we can no longer see bottles or other beverage packaging, because a great idea came to us from other countries and now we can throw bottles to the special machine and get money of their deposit and that’s probably a great idea to reduce the littering. The second problem which really should be talked about is coronavirus. The virus which forces all world’s people to change their routines, habits and other constant things and life just stops. From my own experience I can say that I had really hard 2 weeks when I had to isolate and couldn’t meet my friends live or even leave the home. And I can’t even imagine what feels when you have that virus. And that is probably the biggest challenge that is the hardest to overcome and we can only hope, that doctors or scientists will find the way how to stop this problem. Of course there was much more challenges which we face nowadays, but I decided to discuss only these 2. So, to sum up, there are many challenges facing a wide variety of communities and indeed in most of them we can find a solution to overcome those challenges.
