BUBBLE TEST DIRECT PRESSURE
2. Equipment:
• Line commodity shall be at such a temperature that the bubble solution is still effective 40ºF
to 125ºF.
3. Surface cleanliness: surface must be clean and free of paint, primer, weld, slag, etc.
4. Method or Technique:
• Apply bubble solution with spray brush or drip / pouring. Do not agitate in such a manner as
to create bubble as a result of application.
• The part being tested shall be between 40ºF and 125ºF during the test.
• Pressure is to be increased in stages of 25% of design pressure and checked at each interval
until full design pressure is obtained.
6. Post cleaning may be required where solution may impede future operations, i.e. painting, etc. or
the serviceability of the equipment.
7. Where repairs are required the equipment will be depressurized, repaired in accordance with the
applicable code section and the test repeated.
