Nanotechnology benefits and risks

Today I am gonna be talking about the nanotechnology which is a very

interesting topic ,nanotechnology is the science of manufacturing and studying
materials on a very tiny scale which is called Nano scale which is one part of a
billion and to understand the tininess of this scale you must know that a sheet
of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick so what is so special about
nanotechnology actually what makes nano scale so unique is that the regular
properties of the substances change when they are in the nanoscale for
example nano silver which has an antimicrobial effects .

Nanotechnology benefits

The applications of nanotechnology are very wide and vast options in nearly
every section in your life for example=

 Clear nanoscale films on eyeglasses, computer and camera

displays, windows, and other surfaces can make them water-
and residue-repellent, antireflective, self-cleaning, resistant to
ultraviolet or infrared light, antimicrobial, scratch-resistant, or
electrically conductive.
 Privacy and Security
Nanotechnology raises the possibility of microscopic recording
devices, which would be virtually undetectable. More seriously,
it is possible that nanotechnology could be weaponized. Like
the Atomic weapons which would be easier to create and newl
weapons might also be developed. One of these example is
called "smart bullet," a computerized bullet that could be
controlled and aimed very accurately. These developments may
prove a boon for the military; but if they fell into the wrong
hands, the consequences would be severe
 .
Energy Advantages
Nanotechnology may transform the ways in which we obtain and use
energy. It’s likely that nanotechnology will make solar power more
economical by reducing the cost of constructing solar panels and related
equipment. Energy storage devices will become more efficient as a result.
Nanotechnology will also open up new methods of generating and storing
energy.
 Medical Advantage
 Nanotechnology has the potential to bring major advances in medicine.
Nano robots could be sent into a patient's arteries to clear away blood
clots . Surgeries could become much faster and more accurate. Injuries
could be repaired easier . It may even become possible to heal genetic
conditions by fixing the damaged genes. Nanotechnology could also be
used to refine drug production, manufacturing drugs at a molecular level
to make them more effective and reduce side effects.
 Faster, smaller, and more powerful computers that consume far
less power, with longer-lasting batteries. Circuits made from
carbon nanotubes could be vital in maintaining the growth of
computer power.
 Water filters that are only 15-20 nanometers wide can remove nano-sized
particles, including virtually all viruses and bacteria. These cost-efficient,
portable water treatment systems are ideal for improving the quality of
drinking water in developing countries.
 Space=
Nanotechnology may hold the key to making space-flight more practical.
Advancements in nanomaterials make lightweight spacecraft and making
the space elevator possible. By significantly reducing the amount of
rocket fuel required, these advances could lower the cost of traveling in
space
 Sporting equipment

If you're a tennis or golf fan, you'll be glad to hear that even sporting goods
has wandered into the nano manufacturing . Current nanotechnology
applications in the sports arena include increasing the strength of tennis
racquets, filling any imperfections in materials and reducing the rate at
which air leaks from tennis balls.

 Chemical Sensors
Nanotechnology can enable sensors to detect very small amounts of chemical
vapors. Various types of detecting elements, such as carbon nanotubes, zinc
oxide nanowires or palladium nanoparticles can be used in nanotechnology
based sensors. Because of them a few gas molecules are sufficient to change
the electrical properties of the nano elements. This allows the detection of a
very low concentration of chemical vapors.

The risks or the disadvantages of nanotechnology

After telling anyone about all of these advantages and benefits of

nanotechnology and then you told him that you are going to speak about the
risks he will be very surprised but actually there are risks as

 One of the biggest disadvantage that world is facing because of

nanotechnology is the lack of employment in the fields of traditional
farming and manufacturing and industrial sector because of the vast
development in the nanotechnology. Nanotech devices and machines
have taken place of human to work faster and accurately which has
lessen the importance of men power in the field of practical work and will
cause an economic disaster and nanotechnology also may cause an
economic difference between the developing countries and the rich
countries
 Another risk is the nanotechnology wastes which are very small and can
be suspended easily in the air or water which cause nano pollution
