SEATING ARRANGEMENT
Group Task:

Think of some innovative seating arrangements, discuss and share the same with your
groupmates and make a final diagrammatical presentation through a PowerPoint.

State the classroom conditions that you need to take into account while planning for a
particular seating arrangement.
Seating arrangement is part of an effective classroom management. Classroom seating
plans allow teachers to exert a level of control over their students.

Here is an illustration of a seating arrangement for Multi grade class which comprises
three (3) grade levels; grade 1, 2 and 3.
While making space management in the multi-grade classroom, the teacher should
ensure the following:

▪ The learners are sitting in rows separately according to their grades (here Classes I, II and
III) and facing towards the blackboard separated and provided for each grade level to avoid
confusions of lesson and activities presented by the teacher.

▪ The blackboard is placed in front of them in such a manner that all can see it.

▪ The teacher may stand and teach in front of each grade when required.

▪ While the teacher is teaching in one grade, the learners in other grades may be kept
engaged in different self-learning activities or group activities.

▪ Learners sit comfortably in groups without disturbing each other.
