Call for Entries for the 8th Annual Artivist Film Festival

Artivist Film Festival raising humanity, children’s advocacy, animal advocacy and the preservation of the
environment by merging art and activism will hold its 8 th film festival this summer in major cities in the
United States. We will tour major cities screening film entries including the city of Los Angeles and New
York. The winning films are announced and awarded in Los Angeles thru the Artivist Film Festival and
Awards. It has been a major event for the past seven years in Hollywood held annually at the historic
Egyptian Theater. Past winners include, “ZEITGEIST directed by Peter Joseph, AMERICAN DRUG WAR
directed by Kevin Booth, "EMMANUEL'S GIFT" directed by Lisa Lax, "TRUDELL" directed by Heather Rae,
"BORN INTO BROTHELS" directed by Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski, "LA MISSION" directed by Peter
Bratt, “SUPER SIZE ME” directed by Morgan Spurlock, “THE CORPORATION” directed by Marck Achbar
and Jennifer Abbot, “FAST FOOD NATION” directed by Richard Linklater, “GOD SLEEPS IN RWANDA”
directed by Kimberlee Acquaro and Stacy Sherman, “STOLEN CHILDHOODS” directed by Len Morris and
U. Roberto Romano, ReGENERATION directed by Phillip Montgomery just to name a few who have
premiered at Artivist Film Festival.

Filmmakers who are interested to submit their film to the 8 th Annual Artivist Film Festival may go to <a

five submission categories:

1. INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS- A film submitted in the International Human Rights category
must address the oppression or promotion of human rights of an individual, a community or an
entire population.
2. CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY -A film submitted in the Children's Advocacy category must address the
violation or promotion of the human rights of children and youth, whether it is one child or
entire communities of children.
3. ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION - A film submitted in the Environmental Preservation category
must address the destruction, protection or rehabilitation of the environment.
4. ANIMAL ADVOCACY - A film submitted in the Animal Advocacy category must address the
exploitation, abuse, protection or rehabilitation of wild or domestic animals.
5. ARTIVIST SPIRIT - Many issues filmmakers tackle are complex, and the notions of human rights,
children's rights, animal advocacy, and environmental preservation are inherently
interdependent. All beings on earth are connected. Artivist Spirit films are films that explore the
spiritual and philosophical nature of this interconnectedness.

Artivist has also given honors to Artists and Activists who have made invaluable contribution to
promoting our causes, artists like Matthew McConaughey, Joaquin Phoenix, Alyssa Milano, Olivia Wilde,
Ted Danson, Mira Sorvino, Ed Begley, Jr., Mike Farell, Hank Azaria, Claes Nobel, James Cromwell, Tippi
Hedren and Peter Fonda just to name a few. All winners are awarded in a ceremony at the historic
Egyptian Theater in Hollywood attended by the members of the press and Celebrities, Artists and
Activits.
Artivist has been endorsed by the Audubon Society, Sierra Club, Global Green, Care, Amnesty
International, The Humane Society of the United States, Prevent Child Abuse America, Witness, and
many other NGOs as well as by the United Nations’ Department of Public Information.
