ATL Airport Response To Questions About 911 Center Policy
ATL Airport Response To Questions About 911 Center Policy
I am concerned that Brendan - based on the questions he submitted (specifically focusing on Miyoshi Bolton) - is more
interested in pursuing a sensational segment rather than a true journalistic piece. That being said, not offering an
oncamera response could make the airport look insensitive to the events surrounding Mr. Lawson’s death.
Additionally, it appears as if C4, EMS and Fire all performed in a professional, conscientious and -in the case of Ms.
Bolton- empathetic manner expected of Airport employees.
My suggestion is as follows:
1) We offer Mr. Keefe an on-camera interview. Our GM, DGMs, AGMs and Directors are all experts in their
respective fields – which do not include facing belligerent questions from a television presenter. That’s my field,
and I am willing to answer Mr. Keefe’s questions honestly, intelligently, and professionally.
2) We prepare for the interview with the subject matter experts including Gus, B and the DGMs, Vivica, and
possibly- a member of the Mayor’s Office of Communications and our colleague from Fire.
3) We continue to respond to the ongoing ORRs with speed and accuracy.
Thoughts?
Andy,

We’re planning to air our first story on the airport’s 911 operations next week, focusing on the Lawson call we
previously discussed. We’re planning several more stories after that. Hopefully we can do the interview this week.
Please let us know when someone from the airport or C4 is available.
While we’re waiting on that interview, I have several questions hopefully you and C4 can answer so we’re 100%
accurate and have a clearer understanding of emergency operations:
What happened during the call from Ruth Lawson on the morning of 11/20/2020?
1. Why did it take approximately 17.5 minutes to get medical help to Tom Lawson at the South
Economy lot?
2. Why did an EMD-trained supervisor, Miyoshi Bolton, not ask EMD questions or provide pre-arrival
medical instructions such as CPR?
3. Was/were Miyoshi Bolton or other operators, dispatchers or supervisors specifically instructed to
refrain from pre-arrival instructions during medical calls?
4. Why was the call not transferred to an EMT, paramedic or Grady/secondary PSAP for pre-arrival
instructions?
5. Is C4 and the airport satisfied with the level of service that was provided during this life & death
emergency?
6. Has the airport instituted any changes as a result of this fatal incident?
7. Has Miyoshi Bolton been reprimanded, counseled, or otherwise disciplined/retrained because of
this call?
8. Is there something the 911 caller did wrong?
9. Did any review of this call take place prior to our request for records related to the call?
2
5. How many/what percentage of 911 calls received by C4 are transfers?
Thank you.
