Technology Content Standard Addressed: 6.B.2.1 Navigate age-appropriate software. 6.A.2.2 Use proper beginning keyboarding techniques. 5.B.2.1 Use technologies in learning activities. Other Content Standard Addressed: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.C.5 Relate counting to addition and subtraction CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.C.6 Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten; decomposing a number leading to a ten; using the relationship between addition and subtraction; and creating equivalent but easier or known sums. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.D.7 Understand the meaning of the equal sign, and determine if equations involving addition and subtraction are true or false. Objective: Demonstrate acquired knowledge of working with addition and subtraction equations. Add and subtract within 20. Materials needed to facilitate the lesson: White board, device for each student to access Google Forhttps://forms.gle/v6uASHLhTpSjankj7ms, Teacher computer to check for completion of Forms. Suggested group size: 20 Procedures: 1. Teacher Will activate prior knowledge by discussing learned strategies for arriving at the correct answer. For example: counting on(e.g., by counting on 2 to add 2); making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13). 2. Teacher Will remind students that these strategies can be used to determine if an equation is true or false. 3. Students Will participate in the discussion and answer questions. 4. Teacher Will post a link to the Google Form https://forms.gle/AifjcsBvjcgQeqi39 and instruct students to connect to complete color by number activity. 5. Teacher Will help students to navigate Form and answer any questions. Assessment: A teacher created Google Form will have 10 questions. The Google Form will not allow students to progress through the coloring process until they arrive at the correct answers. Through teacher observation, It will be determined which problems students are struggling with.
