Holy week is a great week for us Christians and is the week before
Easter in the Christian Church. Moreover, this is the last week of
Lent which includes Palm Sunday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy
Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. This period has a
particular religious, cultural and social significance where
processions reenacting the passion of Christ are held throughout
the week. In line with this week, me and my family do sacrifices and
prayers for us to remember on how Jesus saves us with our sins.
First, we attend the Holy Eucharist everyday for service to our God
and we also ask for forgiveness to God by reconciling because it is
a wonderful way to turn us away from our sins and reunite
ourselves with Christ. Secondly, we do Visita Iglesia where every
church we went, we will pray for ourselves and most especially to
the needy. Afterwards, we spend time on devotions like praying the
rosary and reading passages from the bible. Likewise, we take time
for us to reflect self-examination and on our dependence on God’s
mercy. My family members sacrifice through fasting and
abstinence. Just contains meat, we all refrain from eating that but
instead fish. Furthermore, we celebrate the Holy week with love for
God. For this reason, we ate our meal together, remembering the
Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. Nevertheless, we add
purple adornments and designs to our living space because it has
been a Christian way of celebrating Good Friday during Holy week.
In the same way, my family used our old Palm branches on Palm
Sunday. Finally, we offer alms by giving donations and charity for
the people who most need our help. Again, we celebrated the Holy
Week with love to remind us that Jesus save us from our sins.
