Creating exclusive permissions for a subfolder in SharePoint

1. Navigate to the principal folder from which you want to create unique permissions on a
subfolder.

2. Select Manage Access and advanced permission settings

3. Select “Stop Inheriting Permissions” and then Accept

 4. Go back to the principal folder and select the settings icon located above

5. Select site permissions and then advance permission settings

6. Create the Group where you going to add the user with special privileges and assign the
appropriate permission.

 While creating a new group: Don't forget to set your owners group to manage permissions for
this new group

And mark the permission you want to grant as well

7. Go to the subfolder, and then do the following:

Next to the subfolder name, click Manage Access, and then click Advanced.

 8. Remove inheritance permission for the sub-folder.

You will receive the following message- Select Accept

9. For users with previous access, edit the permissions of those in the current list by selecting the
checkboxes and clicking either Edit User Permissions or Remove User Permissions.

Note: You must keep Owners Groups to still have access to those files
If you want to keep previous user permissions over subfolders don't delete any groups

 10. For new users, click Grant Permissions and fill out the dialog box. Make sure you click Show
options and select the appropriate permission level.

 11. If you check again the HR folder in manage Access you can see that only this folder has the
additional “ Especial Permissions Group”
