7.1.1 The contractor shall provide all the necessary approved equipment and skilled
manpower to carry out the provision, fabrication, assembly & erection of
structural steel. The welders shall have to be approved by APR Quality Control
Department individually, before they are put on job.
7.1.2 The contractor shall fabricate the structural steel works as per the structural
steel drawings provided. From the structural drawings provided the contractor
shall prepare the fabrication or shop drawings and shall seek the approval of
the Engineer. However such an approval shall not absolve the contractor of
his responsibility to adhere to the structural drawings. Prior to starting the work
the contractor shall submit for approval a detailed plan & schedule for
stuctural steel work any inadequacies found in the plan or schedule shall be
referred to the contractor & the contractor shall change the planning
/scheduling of the job as per the directions given by the engineer.
7.1.3 All the erection work shall be the contractor's responsibility along with the
safety of workmen and equipment.
7.1.4 In addition to the requirement of section 3.2 and 3.3. the best practices shall
apply.
7.1.5 In case of any difficulty in fabrication or erection due to any reason, the
direction of the Engineer fabrication shall be sought.
7.1.6 Periodic inspections will be conducted jointly by the contractor & the Engineer
of the work completed (fabrication or erection).
7.2 FABRICATION
7.2.1 Ali the part of the steel structure shall be cut as per the drawing. The angle
between the part of a steel structure indicated or calculated from the drawing
shall be the angle between the center of gravity lines of the members.
7.2.2 The welding shall be of the thickness shown on the drawing and shall be
formed in at least two passes. All the slag shall be cleaned after the weld has
cooled & the welding inspected.

provided & fixed as shown on drawings. The bolts shall be tightened fully to
realize their rated strength.
7.2.4 The fabrication of the base plates, gusset plates etc. shall be asper fabrication
drawings. No enlarging of holes for bolts, at site by any means shall be
permitted.
7.2.5 All part of the steel structure to be welded shall be ground by a grinding
machine to provide a smooth surface & then welded with approved electrode.
7.2.6 In case of hexagonal bolts, the bolts shall be tightened to achieve the required
strength.
7.3 ERECTION
7.3.1 Provide / fabricate all the temporary hooks, bolts supports or other arrangements
required for erection After the erection is complete the all such arrangements
mentioned above shall be removed and make gooc the work to the
satisfaction of the Engineer. The foundation to be checked as per the drawing
dimensions b, the
7.3.2 The foundation to be checked as per the drawing dimensions by the surveyor
and mark the centerline and co-ordinates on the foundation
7.3.3 Check the anchor bolt for the corect location and straightness with respect to
the columns.
7.3.4 The surface of the foundation is to be cleaned of all dirt, oil, and any loose
materials and roughened by chipping with brush hammer before placing the
columns.
