1. Introduction

It is assumed that an installation of nurse call system and infant

protection system infrastructure has been completed and tested
according to the solution. It is also insuring that pre-assembly of all
the active components will have been carried out according to the
relevant manufacturer’s instructions. The time has arrived for
testing, commissioning and hand over the system to the customer.
There are four main aspects we will follow.
 Testing individual components to ensure that they operate to
the design specifications.
 Commissioning all the components to function as an
integrated system.
 Demonstrating the system and its operation to the customer.
 Training operators in the use of the system .

2. Prerequisites to Procedure
 Power should be available for all the Racks, and other
relevant equipments that are installed for nurse call system
and infant protection system.

 Two separate power sockets must be available for redundant

power supply of both the system main rack.

 Main cabinet must be installed in the approved locations,

and make sure the requested spaces are available for
Corridor databus terminator – passive, Duty room interface
with corridor, Master station -KSA- clino phon 99.
 UTP & Fiber Patch cords must be available in the network
cabinet for network connectivity.
 Main contractor with help of KAMC will supply the following
information to facilitate system implementation.
If integration with other systems is available then the
relevant ports and connection information relevant for the
integration.

3. Power on requirement
All Electrical pre-commissioning including UPS to be completed
witnessed and approved by the main contractor.

4. Design Parameters

During the design of the systems much consideration has been

given with time spent on estimating exact scope of work and the
right location of controllers with correct compatabile modules to

4

get the necessary areas to be covered throughtout the entire
premises.

5. Reference Documents/Drawings

 Reference to the Approved Nurse call and baby tagging

system drawings.

6. Checks/Pre-commissioning

 Ensure all installation works are complete as per approved

method statement for installation of both the system.
 Also ensure that Main rack for Nurse call system is ready and
commissioned.
 Make sure all cables/Ports for the system has been tested for
continuity.
 Establish connection between system controllers and master
nurse stations.
 After power on the controllers, observe the led indicators in front
of each controller and follow the technical configuration
documents provided.

7. Commissioning/Test Procedures

Testing ,Commissioning and Configuration:

Operational test: Perform tests that include originating program and page
material at each lan controller , program inputs, and other inputs.verify
proper communication between the all connected devices to the master
station.

 Coverage area test: Test and confirm the required coverage ares
is achieved and all the tags are sending proper information to the
receiving stations.

 (1) Disconnect a microphone at the connector or jack closest to it

and replaceit in the circuit with a signal generator using a 1000-hz
signal.

 (2) replace all other microphones at corresponding connectors with

dummy loads, each equal in impedence to microphone it replaces.

5

 (3) measure the ration of signal to noise.

 (4) repeat test for each separately controlled zone of loudspeakers.

 (5) Minimum acceptance ratio is 50 db.

Distortion Test:

Measure distortion at normal gain settings and rated power

 Feed signals at frequencies of 50,200,400,1000,3000,8000 and

12,000 hz into each preamplifier channel.

 For each frequency, measure the distortion in the paging and all call
amplifier outputs.

 Maximum acceptable distortion at any frequency is 3 percent total

harmonics.

Acoustic Coverage Test:

 Feed pink noise into system using octaves centered at 500

and
4000 Hz.
 Use a sound-level meter with octave-band filters to measure
level at five
locations in each zone.
 For spaces with seated audiences, maximum permissible
variation in level is plus or minus 2 dB.
 In addition, the levels between locations in the same zone
and between locations in adjacent zones must not vary more
than plus or
minus 3 dB.

Power output test:

 Measure electrical power output of each power amplifier at

normal
gain setting at 50, 1000, and 12,000 Hz. Maximum variation
in power output at these
frequencies must not exceed plus or minus 1 dB.

Signal ground test:

6

 Measure and report ground resistance at pubic address
equipment
signal ground. Comply with testing requirements specified

8. Interface
 As below.

9. Procedure
The following interfacing will be inspected by the engineer subject
to availability and scope of the project:

 Interfacing with fire alarm system.

 Interface with evacuation management system.

10. Demonstration Procedures

 Spectra international shall provide proper training before

handing over the project to the client/end-user. Also
demonstrate the practicality scenarios which the operator
could face in the future.

11. Visual Inspection

 Inspection will be carried before signing off of the project.

 Verify installation as per manufacturer's instructions.

12. Functional Inspection

 Test and observe each speaker for availability of sound.

 Make sure there is no audio loss in the speakers.
 Find the status that the Amplifier’s are on line.
 Monitor the alarm for system status.
 Check all functions of public address system is as specified
