Introduction

Coastal Clean up is an activity that is done in the coast of beaches where in they pick litters to aid
environmental issues, We conduct our coastal clean up drive in Paraoir, Balaoan La union to adhere our
activity in NSTP or National Service Training Program under the supervision of Mrs.Alicia Land and giving
letter of permission to the Barangay Captain of the said barangay for formality and legalization of our
Activity. The participants of this campaign are the students of bachelor of secondary education 1st year
section A, C and D and they were 8 members namely Rexon Chan, Mike Nares, Lyka Galera, Abegail
Bautista, Marwil Coloma, Dianne Ventura, Maize Nobleza, and Jaycel Agnes. We conduct our costal
clean up on febuary 15 2020, at the time of 8:00 am in the morning until 11:00 am we picked litters in
the coastal of Paraoir and on the afternoon 2:00pm until 4:00 we segregated our litters from
biodagradable and non biodegradable .The main goal of our coastal clean up was to have a clean
surrounding on sea shore that can save the marine animals from pollution, another was to give the
barangay Paraoir to have a clean and green environment to keep them safe from any harm that may
cause. The aim of our activity is to encourage and inspire the people of Paraoir to have a coastal clean
up once a week to ensure and maintain the cleanliness of their beach and also to motivate other people
to do this activity in their different sectors. The importance of this activity in the community was to give
them a clean and safe place to live in and also to make sure that their livelihood won’t be affected by
the trash that has been left by the visitors and locals . This can also promotes their tourism such as
immuki island, People find it attractive if there will be no trash that manifest the area, and lastly helping
the people of Paraoir on their livelihood, no trash means conserving the biodiversity of marine
creatures.

Significant of the study

The Clean Up drive in Paraoir Balaoan La union is expected to provide a clean and safety environment to
live in which includes decreasing of waste materials, beautification of the place and conserving the
natural resources by means of removing trash and debris from beaches and waterways , identify the
sources of litter, and changing the behavior that cause the pollution. The following will be benefited to
the said event”

Community of Paraoir. (Cleaner and safer area to live in, more resources, )

Health Issue. ( waste Pollution can cause deseases to humans and animals if this can reduce it will
decrease the percentage of having illness such as cholera when the water is contaminated)

Sangguniang Kabataan Officers. ( They might inspired to continue the activity we conducted and
motivate them to do such an activity like this, they can also promote activities like this to encourage
others since they are so called the leaders)

Sangguniang Kabataan Members. (They can continue our activity and encourage others)

Proponents.(This can be our stepping stone to continue this clean up drive )

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The purpose of this study concerning about the Clean-up Drive at Brgy. Paraoir, Balaoan, Province of La
Union aimed to exhibit a great deal of environmental awareness and as a starting point for mass
participation of saving our coastlines and marine life. It is very important to set a goal in conducting
Clean-up Drive in the areas that lacks enough waste segregation or management but through our
activity from the students of 1st year College of Education at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State
University Mid La Union Campus it serves as an action driven by purpose to preserve the pleasant look
and natural beauty of the coastals beginning from the place where we can put so much attention in
reducing disposals. The process of conducting this action is addressed for zero waste, eliminate risk from
contamination and water pollution that must be highlighted not only in the areas of Brgy. Paraoir but
also to the rest of the world. The possible outcomes for the community specially in Brgy. Paraoir that
will appear through the campaign of Clean-up Drive would encourage youth in helping to have a
sustainable living, promoting clean and green, productive tourism and an abundance support for earth’s
beautification. For the Brgy. Officials would be a push through for them to implement protective
precautions and rules or regulations for the members of the community to follow. To the rest of this
certain place can indulge living with no risk from wastes, health illness and any aspects of environmental
threats or dilemmas.

illness and any aspects of environmental threats or dilemmas. In conclusion, it was a huge fundamental
role in providing help and care for our environment that once suffered from the human actions that
caused a lot of problematic issues, we are just nothing but a consumers in this place we live in and we
must understand how essential the movements we are doing at this very present time because this
create a big difference allowing ourselves to be a catalyst of positive change towards the humanity and
the nature. We believe that our little ways can provide an impact and it is something we should look
forward.
