I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the period, students are expected to:

1. Discuss the elements of the short story entitled “Summer Solstice”
2. Compare the historical events in the story to the present
3. Create a collage showing gender inequality

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activity

1. Prayer – The teacher will call a student to

fertility ritual involving women and held
during summer in the Philippines. The last
day of the festival coincided with St. John's
Day; a Catholic feast.”

“Where can you find the exposition, rising
action, climax, falling action, and resolution
in the story?”
“Sir, the exposition in the story is where the
Moretas family was enjoying the days of the
St. John’s Festival when Donya Lupeng is
awakened by the loud noise coming from the
dining room, only to find out her three boys
gathered at once.”

“Sir, the rising action of the story is when

Guido makes a suggestive comment to Donya
Lupeng and kisses her feet.”

“Sir, the climax of the story is when Donya

Lupeng joined the tadtarin festival and Don
Paeng wasn’t able to get Donya Lupeng back
because she was surrounded by dancers and
Don Paeng ends up being beaten by some
women dancing in the festival.”

“Sir, the falling action of the story is when

Paeng declares that he would whip his wife
because he loves her and believes she
deserves to be punished. To this, she screams
and declares that she wishes to be adored
 rather than respected.”

“Sir, the resolution of the story is when Donya

Lupeng were able to let Don Paeng submit to
her and kiss her feet.”

later on by group you will present your Relativity to the Theme: 25%
output, but before that let me present to you Design: 10%
the rubrics for our activity.” Creativity: 20%
