INTRODUCTION:

A summary is a brief write up that sums up the whole story or book.

This brief account will summarize all the main points of the essay or
story. The summary will inform the reader of all the main points and
the overriding theme of the larger piece of work.

The point of a summary is to save the reader some valuable time. It

will still relay all the important information of the original work but

is much shorter .

HOW TO WRITE A SUMMARY:

Writing a summary is a great way to process the information you read,

whether it’s an article or a book.
the best way to approach it is by reviewing the piece you’re
summarizing. Read it thoroughly and take notes on the major points
you want to include in your summary. When you get to writing your
summary, rely on your memory first to make sure the summary is in
your own words. Then, revise it to ensure that your writing is clear
and the grammar, punctuation, and spelling are all perfect.

IMPORTANCE OF SUMMARY Writing

summary is an important skill that students will use throughout their

academic careers. In addition, summarizing improves reading skills as
students pick out the main ideas of a reading; it also helps with
vocabulary skills as students paraphrase a reading, altering the
vocabulary and grammar as they do .
PURPOSE OF SUMMARY WRITING:
A summary is a short overview of the main points of a text. The
purpose of a summary is to quickly give the reader or listener an idea
of what this material is saying. You may find it helpful to create
summaries of your own work, but more often, you will
create summaries of material by other authors, such as articles, plays,
films, lectures, stories, or presentations.

USES OF SUMMARY WRITING:

A summary is a record in a reader's own words that gives the main
points of a piece of writing such as a newspaper article, the chapter of
a book, or even a whole book. It is also possible to summarize
something that you have heard, such as a lecture, or something that
you have seen and heard, such as a movie. A summary omits details,
and does not include the reader's interpretation of the original.

You may be used to reading English in order to answer questions set

by someone else. In that case, you probably read the questions first
and then read the passage in order to find the correct answer.
However, when you read in order to write a summary, you must read
in order to decide for yourself what the main points are. This
involves reading to understand the message that the writer has
for the reader, rather than reading in order to get the correct
answer to someone else's questions. Since people have
different backgrounds and read for different purposes, it is
possible that different readers will interpret a writer's message
in different ways. Even if they agree, they will probably write
their summaries in different ways. In other words, there is
unlikely to be only one "correct" summary. On the other hand,
to write a summary it is necessary to understand a passage as a
whole, and therefore at a deeper level, than when one's

purpose is just to answer questions .

.

CONCLUSION:
The conclusion basically asks us to do a few things: Restate the main
idea of the paper (why you wrote this entire long piece to begin with).
Summarize all the key points you made throughout the body of the
paper (things that proved your thesis statement
