Winston Morris,qnie1 °?* ee UE, Lele about the composer Francesco Geminiani (1687-1762) was noted as a solo violinist, composer, theoretical writer and teacher. His teachers were A. Corelli in Rome and A, Scarlatti in Naples. He excelled as a performer and in 1730 wrote the earliest known violin method which continued the traditions established by Corelli, All of his compositions were instrumental works and included violin sonatas, cello. sonatas, string trios, and numerous concerto grossi. His career as a teacher and performer continually shifted back and forth from London to Paris to Dublin. about the composition This CONCERTO GROSSO was based on a Violin Sonata (V/3) by Geminiani's teacher, Arcangelo Corelli, The present Low Brass Trio transcription is taken from the first, third and second movements (in that order) of a four movement work and may be performed either by two euphoniums (bass or treble clef) and tuba or bass trombone or by two tenor trombones and tuba or bass trombone, The optional octaves in Part III are intended for bass trombone. Winston Morris was born in Barnwell, South Carolina, and graduated from Barnwell High School. He received the BS degree from East Carolina University and the MM degree in Tuba from Indiana University where he has also done post-graduate study.
