1. Heat is the flow of energy from a warm object to cooler object.

4. The uses of heat for animals


a. Some animals depend on the heat from the sun to keep their body warm.
b. Lizard and snake bask themselves in the sun to obtain heat.
c. The heat enables their body to function normally.
5. The uses of heat for plants
a. Plants need heat from the sun to live and grow.
b. Seeds only start to grow when there is warmth from the source of heat.
6. Effect of too little heat for people
a. Too little heat from the sun can make us cold or shiver (menggigil)
b. We have to wear thicker clothes or use other sources of heat.
7. Effect of too much heat for people
a. Too much heat from the sun can make us perspire.
b. Our body will lose a lot of water through perspiration.
c. We may get muscle cramps, dizzy, or even faint.

a. Some animals move away from their homes to warmer places in winter.

9. Effect of too much heat for animals:


a. Like people, animals can lose a lot of water on their body if the heat from the sun is
too much.
b. In the desert, animal, like honey badger, stay underground during the day.
10. Effect of too little heat for plants:
a. Plants will not grow well and make food if they get too little heat from the sun.
b. Seeds do not start to grow if there is too litlle heat from the sun.
11. Effect of too much heat for plants
a. If there is too much heat from the sun, the plants will lose a lot of water.
b. The plant will wilt (layu).
c. If the plant do not get any water in time, it will die
12. Measuring hot or cold
a. Temperature is a measure of how hot or cold something is.
b. We can use our skin to feel the object whether it is hot or cold, but our skin can't tell
us the temperatue.
c. We can use thermometer to get an accurate temperature.
13. Thermometer
a. Temperature is measured in degree celsius ( oc)
b. We use a clinical temperature to measure our body temperature.
c. The normal human body temperature is about 37 oc.
14. Reading temperature
a. Hold the thermometer upright.
b. Look at the level of liquid.
c. Position your eyes at the same level as the liquid.
d. Read the marking nearest to the level of liquid in the thermometer.
