A bill to amend 1846 RS 12, entitled

"Of certain state officers,"

(MCL 10.2 to 15.39) by adding section 3.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 3. (1) Beginning on the effective date of the amendatory
2 act that added this section, the governor shall notify the
3 following individuals when the governor leaves this state and when
4 the governor returns to this state for any purpose:
5 (a) The senate majority leader.

1 (b) The senate minority leader.

2 (c) The speaker of the house of representatives.
3 (d) The minority leader of the house of representatives.
4 (2) The notice required under subsection (1) must meet all of
5 the following requirements:
6 (a) Be in writing.
7 (b) State the expected duration of the governor's absence.
8 (c) Identify the individual that will assume the powers and
9 duties of the office of the governor in accordance with section 26
10 of article V of the state constitution of 1963.
