i. Basically, a case conceptualization in counseling process helps counselor to get client’s
cognitive map to understand or explain a client’s presenting issues and for guiding the
counseling process. It generally provides counselors certain plans to focus treatment
interventions. And also, it might include therapeutic alliance, in order to increase
achieving treatment goals.
ii. When helpers asked client “ I wonder if you are somewhat confused”, its aiming to reflect
or identify clients current emotions, then client’s go deep and starts built sentences like
Idk if it’s a fair? And it triggers her feelings of confusion again, then helper is doing
reflection of emotion the cease her up. Also, when helper gives direct suggestion to client’
about what she should do, its result in to stop exploring and triggers feeling of confession
again.
iii. The insight stage builds on the foundation of exploration stage. Going beyond exploration
to insight and understanding requires a deep sense of empathy and belief in clients. In this
stage helpers see beyond defenses and inappropriate behaviors and help clients come to
accept and understand themselves more deeply. In Helping Skills Model of Hill (2014)
there are three stages which namely exploration, insight, action. Basically, exploration
stage is based on client-centered theory, and aims to help clients explore their thoughts
and feelings. The insight stage, which is based on psychodynamic theory, involves
helping clients understand the reasons for their thoughts and feelings. The action stage,
based on behavioral theory, centers on helping clients make desired changes in their lives.
iv. Gaining insight is not easy step to get clients into it, progress remaining bit by bit.
v. Confrontation encourages clients to accept themselves and become fully functioning. At
the point of confrontation, the client pressed to consider the possibility of changing and in
order to do so utilizing resources that she/he has not employed. (Carkhuff, 1969)
vi. For example, my clients complaining about “Ailemle yeteri kadar vakit geçiremiyorum,”
but if we look at the core of the problem, and action of the clients it says family is not a
priority for client. So I could use it in discrepancies situations.
vii. Question is in normal sequence of client session its hard to detect discrepancies how can
we detect them easily?
