EYEGLASSES OR CONTACT LENSES

WHICH ARE BETTER

The natural optic wave application in our life is the eye. The eye is an adaptive optical
system comprising of a cornea and a lens. Unlike most optical systems, the crystalline lens of
the eye changes its shapes to focus light from objects over a great range of distances on the
retina. After entering into the eye through the cornea, light is refracted by the cornea and lens.
Accommodation is the process by which the shape of the lens can be altered to change its
power when the eye needs to focus at different distances. The iris is controlling the amount of
light rays enter into its opening which is called pupil by its aperture stop mechanism. This
aperture stop is a very important component an optical system, affecting a wide range of
optical process. The color vision of the human eye is very complex because it involves
simultaneous Interaction of the two eyes, the brain, receptors and a network of neurons. The
eye is sensitive to wavelength, and the human eye has three receptors senses colors which is
absorbed at different wavelengths. Therefore, the wavelength determines the color while the
amplitude determines the brightness of the light charman, 1991).
Not everyone has normal vision. Some people who have problems in their vision, such
as myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia and so on. They cannot see clearly if they do not use visual
aids. The most commonly use visual aids are eyeglass and contact lenses. Both of them are
several applications in the light wave technology. Eyeglasses and contact lenses are devices that
co refractive errors in vision. People whose eyes have refractive errors do not see clearly
without glasses, because the light emitted from the objects they are observing does not come
into focus on their retinas. For people who are farsighted, images come into focus behind the
retina; for people who nearsighted, images come into focus in front of the retina. For both, the
result is a blurring of vision Lenses work by changing the direction of light so that images come
into focus on the retina. The greater the index of refraction the lens material and the greater
the difference in the curvature between the two surfaces of the lens, the greater the change in
direction of light that passes through it and the greater the correction
There are eyeglasses and contact lenses pros and cons

By now, it is probably quite obvious that eyeglasses can often be more cost-effective
than contact lenses. In order to breakdown, the average cost of eyeglasses is approximately
$300, and they do not have to be replaced until the prescription changes. However, it is
recommended to visit an optician and an optician may charge up to $150.The average price of
contact lenses is approximately $50, although other types of contact lenses may cost more. And
many contact lenses have to be replaced on a monthly basis or even more frequently.
Moreover, contact lenses supply also have to be purchased, which also last for a month, and
may cost approximately $15. It can be necessary to visit an optician every year for new
prescription, which means paying the same $150. Thus, the average annual cost of wearing
eyeglasses can be approximately $450 or more, while the average annual cost of wearing
contact lenses may start from $900.
It is easier to wear eyeglasses. They do not cause infection, Irritation or redness, and do
not need to be sterilized. But, eyeglasses happen to be obstructive. They are always visible are
prone to getting fogged up, and for some people place an uncomfortable weight on our face.
Eyeglasses can also get broken or lost if they are not properly taken care of. Unlike glasses,
contact lenses are unobtrusive and can barely be felt even when being worn directly over the
eyes. But, the contact lenses have to be cleaned on a daily basis using solutions that have to be
purchased.
