SECTION A

1 Clients need to be aware of the realistic time to undertake the design and construction of the building.

Discuss.

2 As a procurement adviser, write a short report to a prospective client explaining the Public Private
Partnership (PPP) procurement option.

3 Write a short report to your client explaining how you would advise him in the selection of a suitable
procurement option for his construction project.

SECTION B

4 Write a report to a client explaining the essential features that lead to a contractual agreement.

5 Explain in detail how the quality of the work can be regulated under the JCT98 form of contract.

6 The Architect issues a variation order during the construction of the project instructing some changes to
layouts that will require some extra work. The contractor submits a quotation for the extra cost of
carrying out the variation indicating in the quotation that no work on the variation will be carried out
until this quotation is accepted. As the contractual adviser for the project the architect asks you for
advice.

Write an explanatory letter to the Architect that assesses this situation and advises him of a suitable
course of action.
