Basic Requirements for Share Trading / Investments
Depository:
Depository is an organization responsible to maintain investor’s
securities in the electronic form In India there are two such organizations viz. NSDL
and CDSL. The depository is similar to a Bank with the exception that banks
handle funds whereas a depository handles securities of the investors. For
availing the services offered by a depository an investor has to open an
account with the depository through a Depository Participant.
Depository Participant:
Trading Account:
25
an online trading account or an offline trading account. Trading account can be
opened with any broker/ sub-broker. A broker is a member of the stock exchange,
who buys and sells shares on his behalf and on behalf of his clients. One time
fees is to be paid for this account, which may vary from broker to broker. Whenever,
one buys or sells shares through such account, he needs to pay a small fee
which is referred to as brokerage.
The trading on stock exchange in India use to take place through open outcry without
use of information technology for immediate matching or recording of trades.
This was time consuming and inefficient. This imposed limits on trading volumes and
efficiency. In order to provide efficiency, liquidity and transparency, NSE introduced a
nation-wide on-line fully automated screen based trading system(SBTS) where
member can punch into the computer quantities of securities and the price in which
he likes to transact and the transaction is executed as soon as it finds a matching
sale or buy order from a counter party. SBTS electronically matches the orders
on strict price/time priority and hence cut down on time, cost and risk of error,
as well as on fraud resulting in improvement operational efficiency.

FRAMEWORK FOR THE COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS:-
➢ Product
➢ Price
➢ Place
➢ Promotion

competitor’s .Indiabulls provides other support services that make retail investors
more confident and assured with their trading. SMS alerts (allowing traders
and investors to make the most of the available opportunities), Softer, intangible

Though the company has efficient products but large part of investment interested
population does not know the company. The most basic expectation for a trader
or investor when one begins trading is that one must get timely delivery of shares
and proceed from sale of shares. Also ones cash balances with the broker must be
safe and secure. Though this confidence in the broker comes with time and
experience, good and transparent practices also play a major role in imbibing
confidence in trader.
Weakness:-
36
COMPETITION FROM BANKS
Most of the banks due to good branding have the faith of the customers of their
Banking database. So they enjoy the liberty of huge database and customers find it
More reliable to trade their rather than with a unknown broker. Also banks like
HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have the advantage of linking the trading accounts of
Their customers to saving accounts. This makes trading easier, and at the same
time A trader withdraws exactly as much money from his account as is needed to
complete the trade. Similarly sales proceeds are credited directly to saving account.

PERCEPTIBLE ANALYSIS ON THE BASIS OF 7P s
OF SERVICE MARKETING:-
Marketing mix is one of the most basic concepts in marketing, defined as the
elements of the organization that can be used to satisfy or communicate with
customer. The traditional marketing mix is composed of the four p’s i. e.
1. Product
2. Price
3. Place
4. Promotion
These are very essential to the successful marketing of services. Service are
usually produced and consumed simultaneously customers are often present in
the firms interact directly with the firm s personnel and are actually part of the
service production process also, because services are intangible customers will
often be looking for any tangible cue to help them understand the nature o f service
experience. acknowledgement of the importance of these additional communication
variables has led services marketers to adopt the concept of an expanded
marketing mix for services includes,
5. People
6. Physical Evidence
7. Process.
42
PRODUCT:-
We are well aware of the fact that services product are found intangible
nature. It includes physical goods features, quality level, accessories, packaging,
warranties, product line and branding. Therefore now we have focused on the
depository services (demat & broking). And all the competitors of INDIABULLS
SECURITIES provides same products with the same product line so here no
significant difference between provided services so there no need to compete
in between INDIABULLS SECURITIES and other major competitors in this factor.
PRICE:-
This element of marketing mix is related to the decision influencing the fee structure
includes, A/C opening charges, AMC, Transfer fee, Brokerage charged by
service providing organization.
Analysis on the basis of secondary data is as follows.
43
A/C
OPENING 1000 2500 100 750

AMC

TRANFER FEE AND DEMAT CHART
Interpretation –
By analyzing the above chart it finds that transfer fee & dematerialization
Charges of Indiabulls Securities is very competitive an aggressive in comparison to
others charges o f India Infoline & ICICI DIRECT .COM are slightly same. MOTILAL
OSWAL and IIL charges same amount for the transfer fee & dematerialization. On
the other hand we can see that KOTAK SECURITIES stands strong because
they provide these services at free cost.
BROKERAGE
45
MIN. MAX.
Brokerage Charges
Interpretation –
By analyzing the above schedule and bar graph we come to know that
Indiabulls Securities charges for trading is lesser than its competitors in the market.
It is also found that KOTAK SECURITIES also charges minimum amount for
Trading after Indiabulls. On the other hand it is also found that ICICI DIRECT
charges maximum price for trading. Though INDIABULLS SECURITIE is well in this
factor they need to cut off their price to attract more customer.
PLACE:-
Another important element of marketing mix is place which focuses attention on the
offering of services by the provider to the customer & the place of location for
46
the service generating organizations. In this factor the location is preferred at the
point where we find some of the essential features such as easy and convenient
accessibility, safety and protection, availability of the infrastructure facilities etc. We
can’t neglect that these features make available to the branches. The location
advantage which simplify the task of marketing effectively.
DISTRIBUTION ANALYSIS:-
In this damnation of the analysis we found that Indiabulls Securities have one
service providing center in Pune, and it is located in commercial area i.e.
1. Prabhat Road, deccan
And other competitors having following numbers of service providing centers in
Pune, shown in following graph.
47
Interpretation
By analysis of the above data we found that as compare to competitors
INDIABULLS SECURITIES has less no. of centers in PUNE i.e. only one. Due to
this factor market penetration of Indiabulls Securities is very less. In near future
Indiabulls is planning to expand their service area by opening two more
branches in Pune.
It is also found that Kotak & IIL has same no. of centers as compare to each
other
PROMOTION:-
Sales do not occur automatically to be more specific in the business
environment where we find the intensity of competition moving upward, it is not
possible to go and remain at for the long time to come, unless we prepare the
ground or set the stage for future expansion & evolve new ideas for creating
favorable selling conditions. It is sales promotion which is backs up pre selling &
stimulates the impulsing buying. It attracts the prospects & keeps moving the existing
customers behind the product.

PEOPLE:-
All human actors who plays the part in service delivery and thus influence the
buyers perception manly the firms personnel the customer and the other
customers in service environment. How these people are dressed their personal
appearance & their attitudes & behavior all influence the customer s perception of
the service. Indiabulls Securities hires quality people and they are trained the
technical skill which are using in organization. On the other hand competitors provide
the technical knowledge time to time and make them aware about up going
competition. In addition to that damnation competitor has made the completion of
formal dress code to their executive and employees, which indicates discipline to
their duties.
The environment in which the services are delivered and where the firm and
customer interact and any tangible components that facilitate performance or
communication of services.
The physical evidence of services includes all the tangible representation of
the service. Such as broachers, latter head, business card, report format and etc.
INDIABULLS SECURITIES provides following thing to their customer Monthly fact
sheet,
➢ Demat letter,
➢ Annual report,
51
And other competitor also provides the same kind of physical things. So it is
not better to compete in between this dimension of service marketing mix.
PROCESS:-
What is process?
The actual procedure, mechanism and the flow of activities b y which the -
services delivered and operating systems. The actual delivery steps the customer
experiences, or the operational flow of services will also provide customer with
evidence or which to judge the service. By analyzing the process model of
INDIABULLS SECURITIES and it competitors we analyze following.
➢ Technology employed.
52
➢ Order processing.
➢ Settlement of claim

India Infoline:-
It takes minimum 2 days to open an account and week to get it activated
Anand Rathi:-
KOTAK and ICICI DIRECT.COM and MOTILAL OSWAL take nearly 3 days to
open and get it activated.
The term market share means contribution of the organization in the total competitive
market. This acquires the particular part of the market. Market share of any
organization shows it stability in the competition it helps to create the
prospects on the basis of present position. Large market share help s to
53
dominate the market which results awareness about the organization in the
minds of people on the basis of present market share. It is convenient to decide

A SWOT analysis focuses on the internal and external environments, examining
strength and weaknesses in the internal environment and opportunities and threats

business partners in 300 cities of India and more than 7 International offices by the
end of 2006. Unlike a traditional broking firm, Indiabulls group work on the
philosophy of partnering for wealth creation.
PRODUCTS
Company’s product line is quite flexible in the sense that there is a product for every
kind of investors. Also all the products coverall the loop holes of all the
products offered by the other competitors like low cost, user friendly online trading
services etc.
WEAKNESS
BRANDING
75
COMPETITION FROM BANKS
Most of the banks due to good b r anding have the faith of the customers of their
Banking database. So they enjoy the liberty of huge database and customers find it
more reliable to trade there rather than with a unknown broker. Also banks like
HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have the advantage o f linking the trading accounts of
their customers to saving accounts. This makes trading easier, and at the same time
trader withdraws exactly as much money from his account as is needed to
complete the trade. Similarly sales proceeds are credited directly to saving account.
OPPORTUNITIES
76
The external environment analysis may reveal certain new opportunities for profit
and growth.
EVER-INCREASING MARKET
After the NSE brought the screen based trading system stock markets are now more
secured which h a s attracted lot of retail investors and the demand
is increasing day by day. This has resulted in improved liquidity and heavy volumes
on transactions. Indiabulls is one of the early entrants here. As to how much it will
roar and how swift it can swoop on the market, the future alone can answer
such queries. Indiabulls has been a mega player and is known for being a mover
of stocks. It is also known for putting big deals through and enjoys good
networking with the FIIs. It has been dynamic enough to move
with the times and capture the opportunities that the market throws up from
time to time.
IMPROVING TECHNOLOGY
In country like India technology is always improving which gives the company a
chance to keep on improving their product with time whereas for the small players
like local brokers it will be difficult to keep the same paces the changing technology.
Also with SEBI lying down some strict guidelines small brokers are finding it harder
to retain the customers with no research department and small capital. The
traditional business model is highly dependent on a large network of Sub-brokers,
and many established players may not have systems (technology, customer service,
etc.) capable of directly servicing so many retail customers
77
UNFULFILLED NEEDS OF THE CUSTOMERS
With so many competitors offering their products in the market but no one is able to
completely satisfy the customers. Some have the problem of lack of information
or some were scared of volatility of the stock markets.Indiabulls has the
opportunity to tap this unsatisfied set of customers and to make
hold in the market. The Internet serves to break all barriers to information, as it
offers an extremely hassle-free investing platform. And, Indiabulls hopes to fully
utilize and capitalize on this platform. This original idea b y Indiabulls itself was
born out of the consumer’s need for a more transparent, easy to understand and
convenient option of investing in stock.
EDUCATION LEVEL
The education level in the country is improving year after year as far as technology
goes. With that the understanding of the stock market is also increasing and a lot of
retail investors are steeping in the markets which are being shown by increasing
volumes, transactions and indices.
78
THREATS
NEW COMPETITORS
A lot of new competitors are trying to enter the market in this bullish run to taste
The flavor of this cherry. This is creating a lot of competition f o r large players
Like Indiabulls and it is creating little confusion in the minds of customers about the
services provided by the broker. Also many banking firms are entering into the
market with huge investment. Competitors like ICICI, kotak Securities,HDFC,5-
paisa etc are posing a lot of threats to the company, Religare
Online trading is totally based on the technology which is quite complex. Typically,
the technology solution has to start from the Internet front-end (or the screen that
you see when you begin trading). Then it needs to get into the 'middle tier 'of risk
management systems that assess data from banks and depository
participants (DP), calculate client risk at that point in time, and give the ‘Go/No-go'
advice to the trade. So technology is a kind of threat because unless until it is
working properly it is good but internet is not that safe. Though a lot of cyber
laws are being made but not yet execute

82
RECOMMENDATION
➢ Need different strategy for different sector of equity, mutual fund, insurance.
➢ For equity market they need to pull the young generation 0f 20-35yrs. Who
are ready to take risk as client? Also need to look after the old client properly.
➢ For mutual fund and insurance sector they need to convince the client who is
ready to invest for long term as well as shorter
➢ Indiabulls have to search those clients who are investing their money monthly
and yearly basis.
➢ It is more profitable for the company get those clients who are investing
10%-20% from their income because these types of people have a large
number in market. So these types of people increase the no of client of the
Company which is the profitable for the company.
