Production idea and Mood Boards

Final idea outline:

Three frankly stupid people attempt a robbery.


After a tip from local “fixer” and mechanic
Omar, three friends Mako, Earl and Slippy rob a
Nigerian church in search of a supposed £50k,
however after the robbery of said church and a
lot of foolery in between its discovered that
the money in the safe was not Great British
Pounds, but was in fact Nigerian naira, which
is 0.0019 of an English pound. The film follows
the boys as they try to rob the church with the
majority of the story taking place in one
location as they try to open the safe. The film
has a very good soundtrack that I believe helps
achieve the exact tone I’m trying to achieve
within the film. The film doesn’t really
achieve much in terms of major character
development the character are in basically the
exact same at the end of the film that they
were in the beginning. Its just a short film
that isn’t too ambitious and that’s easy to
watch.

EXT: SIDEWALK NEXT TO HOUSE

Title card on screen --12:54pm 29th august 2014--

MAKO pulls up outside an older looking house and waits for G


SLIPPY to get into the car.

G SLIPPY Is a stoner looking kid who wastes his life smoking


weed and eating. Him and MAKO are good friends and have known
each other for years.

G SLIPPY walks out of his house and gets in the car with MAKO.
They do their signature handshake and then sit awkwardly for a
few moments.

MAKO

Did you bring the bag of stuff?

G SLIPPY looks at MAKO confused for a few moments before


realising.

G SLIPPY

Oh, shit I’m sorry man,

G SLIPPY goes to get out of the car before MAKO grabs his arm
and pulls him in

MAKO

Are you seriously fucking stoned right now?

G SLIPPY

I got a wee bit nervous before…

MAKO slams his head on his steering wheel and holds his head
in his hands

INT: MAKO’S CAR

MAKO and G sit there awkwardly. G holds the bag he forgot in


his lap. He begins to unzip it.

MAKO

Don’t unzip the fucking bag.

G SLIPPY starts zipping the bag back up. MAKO snaps, grabs the
bag and throws it aggressively on the back seat.

EXT: OUTSIDE NICE HOUSE

Title card --1:49pm--

MAKO’S car pulls up to a nice-looking house. A nerdy looking


child comes out of the house and gets into the car. He brings
his bag to the car from his house.

EARL

Alright people

In a casual way G responds.

Yeah man… you, are you good.

EARL

Yeah, yeah…

MAKO

Did you bring your bag? You know the stuff I told
you specifically to bring

*Being characteristically awkward*

EARL
Yes, yes, I have it right here.

Earl lifts up the bag to show the two in the front seats.
EARLS bag is a Pink duffle bag. The bag belongs to his sister.

Both MAKO and G turn around to look at the pink bag. They look
at the bag and then up at EARL.

EARL looks at them awkwardly and embarrassed.

EARL

It’s the only bag I could find.

MAKO and G look back at each other in disbelief, both of them


look as if they know this was an awful idea.

-Low Rider by war begins to play-

INT: MAKO CAR

Title card --2:14pm--

The boys drive in the car. G and EARL dance as MAKO sits there
looking equally nervous and angry as ever. They pull up to the
large house and pull up out front. The three of them sit there
for A moment in silence.

MAKO looks around at the boys.

MAKO

You ready?

All three of the boys put on their balaclavas. EARLS balaclava


is bright pink, MAKO’S is black and SLIPPY’S is a horse.

MAKO sits there looking as if he’s siking himself up.

MAKO

*Breathes heavily from nose*

Ok Let’s go.
INT: OLD ABANDONED WHEREHOUSE

Title card --15th august-- --two weeks before heist--

The three boys sit around a flip chart. MAKO is explaining the
details of the heist and the getaway. LOW RIDER by WAR is
playing faintly on an old radio in the background.

MAKO

From there we take the van and drive back here, to


open said safe, with our sweet, sweet cash and
sweet, sweet freedom.

G sits there eating crisps, looking slightly puzzled at the


whole ordeal.

EARL pushes his glasses up to his face.

EARL

OK, but that doesn’t explain how you found out about
the safe or the place or the money.

SLIPPY

Yeah, explain *mouthful of food*

MAKO

That’s where OMAR comes in

SLIPPY and EARL look confused at MAKO.

MAKO

Big Omar. Big Fat Omar!

*hey baby by ted Nugent plays*

--Cut to mako walking down street--


EXT: OMARS MECHANICS – BRIGHT SUNNY DAY

MAKO strolls down the street and walks up to the entrance of


OMARS MECHANICS. MAKOS car is being serviced. A larger man
with a beard is working under the car.

MAKO

OMAR (Omar doesn’t reply)


OMAR (Omar doesn’t reply again)

This time MAKO shouts and kicks OMAR

OMAR!

OMAR rolls out from under the car on a skateboard, with


headphones in. Ted Nugent’s hey baby is playing in them. OMAR
takes off his headphones, looking confused for a moment before
realising its Mako standing there.

MAKO

You alright OMAR.

OMAR

Yeah, what do you want

MAKO

My car

OMAR springs up from the floor and goes to shake MAKO’S hand.
MAKO stares and his hand for a moment before OMAR looks down
at his hand realising its covered in oil. OMAR lowers his hand
before.

OMAR

Alright well let’s go and get your paperwork done


inside

MAKO
Sweet

They both begin to walk inside. OMAR puts his hand on MAKO’S
back smearing his white t-shirt with a black oil handprint.

INT: OMARS OFFICE

MAKO sits there signing his name on the multiple pieces of


paperwork. OMAR enters the room holding two cups of coffee. He
places one in front of MAKO. OMAR sits down and begins to
drink his coffee with an audible slurp. MAKO pushes his
paperwork over to OMAR so he can look.

OMAR

Need to sign at the bottom here.

He pushes the paperwork back over to MAKO to sign.

OMAR sits there looking as if he is contemplating something.

OMAR

Do you want a job?

MAKO looks up at OMAR slightly confused

MAKO

In this shithole?

OMAR

No not here I couldn’t take you on if I wanted.

A different kind of job

--Extreme close up on mako—

A grin erects across MAKO’S face.


MAKO

GO ON.

OMAR

There’s a safe, but not just any safe, a fucking


stacked safe, or so the little birdies say.

*A large safe is shown*

Lots of people saying it belongs to some very rich African


people.

--cuts back to the conversation in the office—

MAKO

How much you think in there

OMAR

*Huffs* 50 or 100 grand easily

MAKO

Jesus Christ. How come no one else has picked it up


yet.

OMAR

That’s the thing,

MAKO

What

OMAR

--establishing shot of church--

It’s in a church.

MAKO

Are you joking, a fucking church?


OMAR

Well look it’s not ideal, but let’s be honest it’s


not like your religious.

MAKO

Still, it’s kind of fucked up shit.

OMAR

Its 100 grand were talking about here, that kind of


money transcends divine right.

MAKO

What do you want from it?

OMAR
5 percent.

MAKO

OMAR

MAKO

Deal.

Wait what’s the code.

OMAR

There isn’t a code it’s a key

MAKO

How am I supposed to find the key

OMAR

You don’t need a key


MAKO

How am I supposed to open a key safe without a key


Omar

OMAR
I’m sure we can figure it out

For 10%

MAKO shakes his head and sighs

MAKO

Fine, deal

OMAR and MAKO stand up to shake each other’s hand

--MATCH CUT—
INT: WAREHOUSE/PLANNING ROOM

MAKO is standing as if he has just shaken hands with OMAR,


revealing the entirety of the previous scene was him
describing to encounter to SLIPPY and EARL.

SLIPPY and EARL sit there staring at him awkwardly.

EXT: OUTSIDE FRONT OF CHURCH

Title card --2:22pm 8 minutes after the heist--

*Stranglehold by ted nugent plays*

The doors to the church burst open. MAKO comes running out
first running with the safe, SLIPPY and EARL come running
shortly after. All three try to fit the safe into the boot of
the car. It doesn’t fit so they all lift it back out and place
it in the back of the car. All three then pile back into the
car and drive off.
All three take off there masks, and for a minute seem shocked,
but then instantly start cheering and celebrating the success
of their heist.

INT: WHEREHOUSE PLANNNG ROOM AREA

The three boys burst through the door once again, with MAKO
coming through first, With SLIPPY and EARL following close
behind carrying the safe.

All three of the boys begin hugging each other in celebration.

The safe now sits in the middle of the floor. The boys begin
to calm down in order to open the safe.

MAKO

Ok, ok everyone just chill the fuck out, and wait


for OMAR

TITLE CARD --3:30pm--

The boys sit around the safe for a while until OMAR Knocks at
the door.

He enters the room and looks at the safe.

He puts on thick industrial gloves and puts on his headphones.

OMAR

Lets get started.

OMAR pulls out a blow-torch and begins to open the safe. Some
time passes.

TITLE CARD --4:18pm--

OMAR lifts up his welding mask covered in sweat.

OMAR
She’s open

MAKO is pacing up and down the room, when Omar speaks he turns
to look at the safe. SLIPPY is asleep on his chair, EARL sits
up and hits him to wake him up.

They all lean in to see the safe be opened. The safe is filled
with money and the three boys begin to rejoice as OMAR stays
on the ground next to the safe.
OMAR

Wait, WAIT.

OMAR fully takes of his welding mask and falls back and puts
his hands on his head.
MAKO

What

MAKO begins to walk over to the safe.

WHAT

SLIPPY and EARL watch over intently from the back.

OMAR

Its not, what the fuck, what the hell is this

MAKO walks over to the safe and pulls out a stack of cash.

Mako looks distresed when looking at the notes. He goes and


flicks through multiple stacks before bending over and letting
out a painful scream.

EARL

What the fuck is going on.

MAKO tosses a stack of cash at EARL

MAKO

It’s not real fucking money (very very angry)

EARL begins to flip through the wads of cash.

EARL

Its money, but its (takes a second to check)


Zimbabwean dollars

SLIPPY slumps back down in his seat and sighs.

SLIPPY

Well that’s that then.


EARL

I guess so…

What the fuck are we gonna do with this

OMAR

Let me take it I’ll sort out something to do

All 4 of the boys exit the factory. OMAR goes left and leaves
the boys to go towards his truck. The three boys continue to
walk towards MAKO’S car. All three put their bags in the boot
of the car. The boys sit silent in the car on the way back.
For the first time MAKO doesn’t look angry, he just looks sad
and almost just content with the fact they have made no money.
SLIPPY sitting in the passenger seat turns on the radio the
first two stations he tries both have depressing songs on
them. He skips through them before HURDY GURDY MAN by DONOVAN
plays. The boys continue to sit in eery silence before the
credits role.
