SEISMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR FOUNDATIONS

 Footings, mats, and pile caps → 18.13.2

 Develop column and wall bars in tension
 Hooked column bars turned toward center
 Continue transverse reinforcement
 Add top reinf. for uplift

Column or boundary element

Top reinf. required
w/in ½ foundation depth
for uplift

ℓd

Transverse reinf. Hooks inward

GRADE BEAMS AND SLABS-ON-GROUND → 18.13.3

 For grade beams acting as horizontal ties

 Anchor tie bars in column or foundation
 Least dimension of ℓn/20 but need not exceed 450 mm
 Closed ties at smaller of ½ beam dimension and 450 mm
 Grade beams resisting flexure from columns detailed as beams → 18.6
 Slabs acting as diaphragms → 18.12
PILES, PIERS, AND CAISSONS → 18.13.4 Pile cap

 Transverse reinforcement required for:

 5dpile from top, not less than 1.8 m
below bottom of pile cap
 Where not laterally supported
≥ 5dpile
≥ 1.8 m
