 Two hours of exposure to an eye-opening movie evokes various feelings to the audience.

The movie, Hello Love Goodbye, shows the life of an OFW in Hongkong bringing up the hardships

and sacrifices done in order to survive. Nonetheless, the taste of romance in the movie completely

captures the heart of the viewers. Characters such as Joy, a domestic helper who is focused on

providing the needs of her family and Ethan, a charismatic playboy who works as a bartender is

interested on romantically pursuing Joy hooks the attention of the viewers. Despite the challenging

roles, lead actors Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards are able to exquisite a tour de force

performance where their personal identities are gone and their movie roles begin.

The storyline tells how the characters establish connection between each other. Joy stands

as the breadwinner of the family, she sees Hongkong as just stopovers: “You arrive, stay a while,

then leave.” The sentence serves as her mindset regarding her 2-year contract as a domestic helper

in Hongkong. She meets Ethan, a charismatic playboy who works as a bartender while waiting for

his permanent residency in Hong Kong. Ethan tries to approach Joy, who resists his charms

however after some time Joy opens her heart for him. The story of a bartender who romances a

domestic helper although their meeting is temporary piques the interests of the audience. In

addition, the movie takes the viewers into the world of the Filipino OFWs in Hong Kong. This love

story is relatable to Filipinos wherein one must choose career over love for the feeling of self-

fulfilment and be committed to support their respective families.

With the impressive screenplay of the storyline and the presence of art in cinematography,

the movie will surely bring the audience to another perspective of life. The director, Cathy Garcia

Molina, is praised for recognizing the talents of her casts and bringing out the best in them. Another

factor that greatly impacts the audience and adds more color to the movie is the choice of music

that supplemented scenes. Hello Love Goodbye is full of meaningful messages that leave imprints to

the hearts of every individual who watches it, there is no doubt that every person deserves to know

the beauty of the movie.
