Come join us for activities this month. Be sure to say hello and
welcome Sherifa who recently joined our SAS staff . Our
kitchen will be remodeled this month so please excuse any un-
usual sounds you might hear coming from that space. When the

kitchen is complete we plan to launch a new series of cooking
classes. There will be a Spring scavenger hunt with students
S.A.S. in the evening or week- from Barat Academy along with Sacred Heart Academy assist-
end ing us. We have scheduled outings to the Science Center and
Patty Yarrow 636-293-3506 the Butterfly House. Fairwinds is coming to present a concert
Angela Curtis for us in the chapel. Celebrate the Easter season with us with
Sherifa Hardware-Bethune crafts, egg decorating, a Easter party, Easter Egg hunt and an
S.A.S. during the day Easter presentation by the Caring and Sharing church group.
Drop by our coffee social for a bit of refreshments and a chat.

Facilities will be working on our garden area. They will increase

the height of the raised beds by placing them on concrete blocks
Cindy Burrows to make them more accessible for those of us who use wheel-
chairs. They will also expand our garden area to include a good
size plot of tillable soil that is ground level . Hopefully we will
sample lots of home grown produce this summer.

Event Descriptions
4/1 The movie will be the recently released version of The karate Kid—In
this tale a 12 year old from Detroit moves to China where he incurs the wrath
of a bully and makes an ally of an aging janitor who teaches him the secrets
of self defense.
4/1 Chair exercises- Get moving in your seat!
4/7 Come and join us for sensory stimulation and meet our new occupational
therapist volunteer.
Saturday 9 Sunday 10 4/8 The movie will be Clue - In this thriller comedy a group of oddball char-
acters assemble at an old Victorian mansion to play a game of “whodunit”.
4/9 Science Center Outing– Bring a sack lunch and drink. Meet at the flag-
pole at 10:00am and we will plan to leave by 10:15am. and to be back 1’ish.
4/10 Art– Try a new technique of creating art. Dress to get messy.
Outing to the Science 4/11 Cooking class– Learn how to make chocolate sandwich cookie bars; a
Center. Meet at the flag no bake dessert. Please eat dinner before class.
Art project 1:30-2:30 4/12 Butterfly House– Meet at the flagpole at 9:00 and we will leave at 9:15.

Kirkwood UCC Easter ments, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Egg Hunt 1:30-2:30 4/17– Our annual egg hunt takes place behind Emmaus’ main building.
Please be on time ! Bring a basket or bag to collect eggs in. Visit with our
friends from Kirkwood UCC church. Everyone will go home with a goody
bag.
4/15 The movie will be The last Airbender—The tale of a 12 year old boy
who provides the last hope of providing harmony to the land.
4/8 Game show night– Based on the new game show “Minute to win it”, you
will complete challenges using everyday household objects. Come in to

will put on for us..

Remember SAS is offering “kits” for a monthly
4/8-4/10 Frontier Park Tartan Days Celebration. Tartan days project or activity to be done in-home. If you
celebrate Scottish heritage and culture in the region. Activities would like to participate in the offered project ask
include a reception and crowning Miss tartan on Friday, a pa-
rade beginning at noon on Saturday, a Tartan music Feast at 7
your home manager to contact Angela Curtis.

4/9 & 4/10 Golden Retrievers at Purina Farms starting at


8a.m..until 4 p.m.. This dog show will feature obedience, breed

Log Cabin Museum Tours– The second and fourth Sunday of


the month from noon until three in Civic Park located at 305
Second street in O’Fallon. Participants will learn about
O’Fallon’s Civil War history, St. Louis World’s Fair history,
railroad history, WW II history and more.
