HAIR

Copy the hairSystem folder to
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\maya\<version>\presets\attrPresets\
to use the presets available for each hair in the Attribute Editor.

If you change the animation you will need to resimulate the hair dynamics. To do so Enable the
Nucleus node:

Select Mane or Tail hair nodes. Delete the current Cache in (FX) nCache:

and create a new one:

SHADERS

In Hypershade you can check the available skin shaders for horses, eyes, saddle and reins.
