Question: 5 How was the statue of the Happy Prince decorated?

The happy prince was decorated with thin leaves of gold all over his body. His eyes
were made up of blue sapphires. There was a red ruby on the top of his sword on his
hilt.

Question: 6 Why did the prince feel unhappy even though his heart was made of lead?

The Happy Prince felt unhappy because of the misery and unhappiness of the people
of his city. When he was alive and a real prince he had lived in a palace where there
was no sign of sorrow. Even with a heart of lead, he could see the poverty and
ugliness that his people lived in.

Question:7 Why do you think the lead heart of the statue broke? Why did it not melt in the foundry?

The Happy Prince’s heart was full of love and kindness for all, helping others and stay
happy was his purpose. He had given everything belonging to him to the poor and
needy. The kind swallow had helped him in his mission also. However, when the
swallow died of cold and hunger, the Happy Prince’s heart broke into two with grief

The broken heart did not melt in the foundry because it was made of love and
kindness.

Question:8 Why does the Prince use the word marvellous, when he says “more marvellous than
anything”

The Happy Prince referred to the suffering of people as more marvellous than
anything else as he wanted to help them.

Question:9 Do you think the swallow was as kind as the Happy Prince? Give a reason for your
answer?

Yes the swallow is very kind as happy prince as it helped Happy prince giving
Sapphire and Ruby to the poor's without caring of himself in winter and snow.
