Foreign Direct Investment and Economic growth of Bangladesh

Objective of the study:
• General objective: To evaluate the overall status of FDI in Bangladesh
• Specific objective: i) To find the prospects and problems related to FDI
ii) To analyze the impact of FDI inflow on GDP, export and domestic investment

Research Questions:
• Does FDI impact GDP of Bangladesh?
• Does FDI impact export done by Bangladesh?
• Does FDI impact domestic investment?
• What are the problems hindering the growth of FDI in Bangladesh?
Research design: Secondary data have been used to carry out this
research.

Method: Inferential analysis has been used.

Correlation and regression have been used to find relation between two
variables.

Variables:
Dependent variables: Gross Domestic Product(GDP) , Export and
Domestic Investment of Bangladesh
Independent variables: Foreign Direct Investment(FDI)
Findings:
Collected data were analyzed using tools like correlation and regression and the
findings made were:
• FDI inflow has positive and significant relationship with GDP
• FDI inflow has positive and significant relationship with export.
• FDI inflow has positive and significant relationship with domestic investment
made in the country.

Recommendations:
• Project an image of political and financial stability as it attracts foreign
investors
• Ensure transparency in every aspect of financial transaction
