SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS PAPER

Tasks
Write a paper of 2,000-2,500 words on sustainable business practices. It is not required for
you to research a specific organization. You should examine relevant and credible literature
for research on sustainable business practices and organizations that have been
successfully executing sustainable business strategies.

IMPORTANT: The paper will need at least five academic peer-reviewed journals to support
your arguments (current, within five years). The paper must adhere to strict APA (6th)
referencing and must be structured appropriately.

Your paper should comprise of the following sections, appropriately titled, in sequence:
1. Introduction (includes a thesis statement).
2. An explanation of sustainable business and how it has evolved to date.
3. The impact of sustainable business practices on doing international business.
4. The shareholders’ and stakeholders’ perspectives of sustainable business.
5. What are the barriers that hinder or prevent effective sustainable business
practices for an international organization operating in Vietnam?
6. Recommendations for indigenous Vietnamese organizations to effectively
implement sustainable business practices. (this section will count as a
conclusion)
7. References

Section 1 should comprise 100-120 words. It must have a thesis statement. A strong thesis
statement is specific. It should show exactly what your paper will be about; and will help you
keep your paper to a manageable topic.

Section 2 should comprise 300-380 words. What is sustainability? What is sustainable

business? Is it related to sustainability? How did sustainable business originate? How has it
evolved since? How has sustainable business been interpreted over time?

Section 3 should comprise 400-500 words. As sustainability matters globally, it is necessary

to examine how sustainable business practices impact on doing business internationally. For
a comprehensive examination, compare and contrast the impact on different modes of
international business. An objective evaluation will be based on a set of relevant criteria.

Section 4 should comprise 400-500 words. Another important dimension of sustainable

business relates to the perspectives of shareholders and stakeholders of organizations.
Perspectives affect the level of support given by shareholders and stakeholders to
organisations’ sustainable business practices. Critically review for possible conflicts and
resolutions.
Section 5 should comprise 400-500 words. Draw from your findings in Sections 2-4 to
identify barriers that currently hinder or prevent an international organization operating in
Vietnam from effectively executing sustainable business practices in Vietnam; or deriving
desirable outcomes in Vietnam from sustainable business practices executed outside
Vietnam. You should not focus on one organisation. Explore unique barriers to organizations
operating in each of the different modes of international business.

Section 6 should comprise 400-500 words. Use your findings in Sections 2-5 to suggest how
indigenous Vietnamese organisations (not international organisations operating in Vietnam)
could effectively implement sustainable business practices. Do not suggest actions outside
organisations’ control. Justify each suggestion, using evidence you found in Sections 2-5.
Critically review each suggestion for likelihood of success. An objective evaluation will be
based on a set of relevant criteria.
