kitty my dad a two-player rpg about a girl & her cat/dad

A young girl and her father live in an ordinary village.

One day, while traveling through the woods to gather supplies, the father is
suddenly approached by an old witch in search of children to eat.

Wanting to keep her away from the village and from his daughter, the man tries to
deceive her and send her in the wrong direction—however, the witch can easily see
through his lies. She curses him, transforming the man into a small black cat.

Now, returning to the village, the man must find a way to communicate with and
warn his daughter before the witch can reach her.
This is a two-player role-playing game, in which each player takes on the role of
either the daughter or the cat/dad.

Required materials include 2 six-sided dice (one for each player) and something to
write on (pen & paper; phone/laptop/tablet).

In order to determine who plays which character, each player will roll a die. The
higher roll will take on the role of the daughter, and the lower roll will take on the
role of the father, trapped in the body of a cat.

In every round, each player makes an attempt at their shared goals by rolling the
die. The girl must try to investigate the disappearance of her father while avoiding
the witch. The cat/dad must try to communicate who he really is to his daughter
while helping to protect her from the witch (who now terrorizes the village).

Each round has two rolls, where players roll their die at the same time. (Ties are not
allowed—if players roll the same number, they must re-roll.)

The first roll determines each player’s first action: how the cat/dad will try to
communicate with the girl, and whether the girl will be able to pick up a hint.

If the cat/dad rolls higher than the girl, it is a successful attempt that catches the
girl’s attention. If the cat/dad rolls lower than the girl, it is an unsuccessful attempt.

Each round marks one day in the story.

At the end of every round, players should work together to collaboratively tell the
story of what happened that day, whether successful or unsuccessful, from two
perspectives: the girl, who does not know the cat is her father, and the father, who
is unable to speak directly to his daughter.

Add as much detail and specificity to the narrative as both players desire. Players
should also keep track of which rolls were successful.
At the end of one week, or 7 rounds, the results of the game are given.

# of successful
attempts 1st Roll 2nd Roll
(out of 7 rounds)

the girl thinks the cat is totally the witch eats the girl; the father is
1 normal, doesn’t notice anything left alone, trapped as a cat in
strange about it mourning

the girl thinks the cat is something the father is unable, as a cat, to
2-3 special and maybe magical, but has prevent the girl from being seriously
no clue that it is her father injured & kidnapped by the witch

the girl is suspicious of the cat being the witch has moved onto other
4-5 her father, but also wonders if villages; the girl is safe, but the
maybe she’s going crazy father will remain a cat forever

the witch has not only been

the girl is fully convinced that the cat
6-7 is her father
captured, but also forced to
transform the father back into a man

Players should end their characters’ narrative by combining these two final results,
adding as much detail to the story as they’d like.

Maybe the perspectives of the girl and the cat/dad will finally be able to join in one
tale, or maybe they must continue to miss each other. Either way, whether comic or
tragic, the tale of KITTY MY DAD is complete.

Have fun!
