It is with great pleasure that I am penning down these lines to express my sincere thanks
to various persons who helped me a lot in completing this project.
I am greatly indebted to Ms. Anju Batra our Lecturer who helped me in all the phases
during the compilation of this project & also in edition & rectification of errors.
One of the most dynamic fields of business is the Capital Market. It is considered one of
the most promising and emerging markets in the world. This is because of the sea change
that that the market has undergone from the early 90’s. The market is now automated,
transparent and self-driven. The Indian Financial system is regulated by two governing
agencies under the Ministry of Finance. These are the Reserve Bank of India and the
Securities Exchange Board of India.
Religare has made a name for itself in the brokerage industry, but the need for a strategy
to strengthen its foothold in the industry has always been felt. Keeping this in mind I
have tried to explore the various facets of the brokerage industry like Quality of
Research, brokerage charges, market’s naivety, product offerings and services offered. I
help a brokerage firm in getting a continuous stream of revenues.
Before formulating a strategy a study of the investor segment was also carried out to
determine its financial intelligence level and the growth prospects. The stock broking
industry is perhaps one of the fastest growing industries in India, with only 1.5% of the
total Indian population investing in the Indian Stock Markets.
Many new companies are venturing into securities market to tap this large untapped
potential, resulting in intensified competition and better services for the clients.
I recommend that Religare should increase its brand awareness in the retail segment by
promoting healthy investing habits; an investor who would not venture into unknown and
maintains a healthy relationship with the company is the best bet for the company to have
a continuous stream of revenue. Educating the clients, how to take care of investments
even if an economic down turn is staring at us. The client is not perturbed by it.
