Kantech Integration with DSC PowerSeries Neo Application Note

The purpose of this application note is to describe the steps required to connect a KT-400 or KT-1
access controller to the RS-232 serial connection on a 3G2080R, TL280R or TL2803GR
PowerSeries Neo communicator.

Connecting the Controller (KT-400 or KT-1) to the Communicator

The controller (KT-400 and KT-1) can be connected to the communicator using the RJ-12 CAB6 flat
cable with flying leads at one end supplied with the communicator.

Wiring Diagram:

The RJ-12 male connector connects to the controller, while the flying leads connect directly to the
corresponding slots in the communication device.

Wiring Reference Table:

Green = RX+
Red = TX-
Black = Ground

NOTES:
 The unused flying leads (blue / white / yellow) should be trimmed back to the
cable cover to avoid accidental contact
 3G2080R, TL280R and TL2803GR communicators manufactured prior to 6/23/15
have a RS-422 serial connection and require the CBLK-ITV2 cable kit in order to
connect to the controller
