MIDTERM FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT

CAP 01 – CAPSTONE PROJECT

Second Semester 2020-2021
Instruction:

1. Save your Formative Assessment as CAP01midterm.doc or Still image and submit any LMS the class
uses (Google Classroom or Messenger).

Part I MULTPLE CHOICE: Choose the correct answer among the options and write the letter in the
space provided before the number. (1 point each)

C____ 3. It uses of research as a scientific process.
(a) Determine existing situation (b) describe population (c) all the statements
___A_ 4. This category of research answers the questions who, what, when, where, and how. It describes
a situation or a given state of affairs in terms of specific aspects or factors.
(a) Descriptive (b) Explanatory (c) Experimental (d) Pure Basic Research

B____ 5. This category of research goes beyond the description of the problem or situation. It attempts to
explain the possible factors related to problems which have been observed in the descriptive
research.
(a) Descriptive (b) Explanatory (c) Experimental (d) Pure Basic Research
__c__ 6. This category of research evaluates the effect or outcome of a particular intervention or
treatment. It studies the “cause and effect” relationship between certain factors on a certain
phenomenon under controlled conditions.
(a) Descriptive (b) Explanatory (c) Experimental (d) Pure Basic Research
_a___ 7. This Dichotomies of research attempts to describe an existing situation and/or explain certain
patterns of behavior using either or both qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
(a) Descriptive (b) Explanatory (c) Experimental (d) Pure Basic Research
B____ 8. This Dichotomies of research focuses on variables or factors which can be changed by
intervention in order to achieve a desired goal, like improvement of health, practices, etc.
(a) Applied Research (b) Explanatory (c) Experimental (d) Pure Basic Research
B____ 9. This Dichotomies of research describes an existing problem situation and examine the
underlying factors that contribute to the emergence of the problem, the nature of which is not yet
known.
(b) Applied Research (b) Explanatory Research (c) Explanatory Research
B____ 10. This Dichotomies of research explains a prevailing situation or explain a relationship between
factors which may have already been identified in exploratory studies, and why the relationship
exists.
(a) Applied Research (b) Explanatory Research (c) Explanatory Research
__a__ 11. It is a Dichotomies of research seeks to quantify or reflects the number of observations on the
characteristics of the population being studied.
(a) Quantitative Research (b) Qualitative Research (c) Explanatory Research
_B___ 12. It is a Dichotomies of research emphasizes verbal descriptions and explanations of human
behavior and practices in an attempt to understand how the units or members of the population
experience or explain their own world.
(a) Quantitative Research (b) Qualitative Research (c) Explanatory Research
_D___ 13. A Research methods is ______
(b) Experimental method (b) Survey methods (c) Content analysis (d) all of the options
___A_ 14. An experiment involves the comparison of the effects of a particular treatment with that of a
different treatment or of no treatment. It is usually made to an experimental group and to a control
group.
(a) Experimental method (b) Survey methods (c) Content analysis (d) all of the options
A__ __ 15. provide control of when and to whom the measurement is applied, but because random
assignment to experimental and control treatments has not been applied, the equivalence of the
groups is not assured.
(a) Quasi-Experimental (b) Quasi-Experimental Research (c) Content analysis

Part II Case Analysis

1. In any short bond paper or digital form, define A. Proposed Title, B. Purpose and Description, C.
Objectives, D. Expected Output based on the scenario below:

The Case Analysis is intended to provide you with experience in designing a Capstone Project. This
case analysis requires the following capstone format based on the given scenario below:

“A waiter takes an order at a table, and then enters it online via one of the six terminals located in
the restaurant dining room. The order is routed to a printer in the appropriate preparation area: the cold
item printer if it is a salad, the hot-item printer if it is a hot sandwich  or the bar printer if it is a drink. A
customer’s meal check-listing (bill) the items ordered and the respective prices are automatically
generated. This ordering system eliminates the old three-carbon-copy guest check system as well as any
problems caused by a waiter’s handwriting. When the kitchen runs out of a food item, the cooks send out
an ‘out of stock’ message, which will be displayed on the dining room terminals when waiters try to order
that item. This gives the waiters faster feedback, enabling them to give better service to the customers.

Other system features aid management in the planning and control of their restaurant business.
The system provides up-to-the-minute information on the food items ordered and breaks out percentages
showing sales of each item versus total sales. This helps management plan menus according to customers’
tastes. The system also compares the weekly sales totals versus food costs, allowing planning for tighter
cost controls. In addition, whenever an order is voided, the reasons for the void are keyed in. This may help
later in management decisions, especially if the voids consistently related to food or service.”

Acceptance of the system by the users is exceptionally high since the waiters and waitresses were
involved in the selection and design process. All potential users were asked to give their impressions and
ideas about the various systems available before one was chosen.

Definition of the Topic: (5 points each)

A. Proposed Title. (The title must contain the subject matter of the study.)

B. Purpose and Description (This is a general aim that should explain what the core problem is
and why the project is important)

C. Objectives (Objectives should address the core problem in terms of the benefits to be received
by the project beneficiaries or target group as a direct result of the project)
D. Expected Output (What your project aims to accomplish?)
