1. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Bulawayo Power Station (BPS) is part of five power plants operated by the Zimbabwe Power
Company, a subsidiary of ZESA. The plant is located in the City of Bulawayo and is
accessible by both rail and road. BPS is a coal-fired power plant with a total installed
capacity of 90MW which is generated from three 30MW CA Parsons Turbo generators. The
plant operates six 15MW Yarrow chain grate boilers.

2. SCOPE OF WORKS

The Contractor shall supply and deliver six Honeywell 1700 universal digital indicator for to
the ZPC Bulawayo Power Station premises. Three Honeywell 1700 universal digital indicator
are to be installed on Turbine Alternator number 4, and the other three shall be installed on
Turbine Alternator number 3. The supply and delivery must include operator’s and
maintenance manuals for the Honeywell 1700 universal digital indicator. The Honeywell
1700 universal digital indicator shall meet or exceed the technical specifications outlined in
Section 3 hereafter.

3. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The Honeywell 1700 universal digital indicator shall provide a simple and cost effective
means of meeting the calibration requirements of ISO 9000 and other similar quality
standards. Table 1 below presents the technical requirements of the Honeywell 17 UDI.

4. DOCUMENTATION

The Contractor shall provide the following documentation:

 The Contractor shall provide the ZPC Engineer with operator’s and maintenance
manuals.
 The test certificates.

All documentation and communication shall be conducted in English.

5. TEST AND ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

The Honeywell 1700 universal digital indicator are subject to inspection and test by the ZPC
Engineer upon arrival to the ZPC premises to ensure compliance with this Specification and
to provide the necessary operating data.
6. MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS

If so required, or to the discretion of the ZPC Engineer, a service contract may be awarded to
the contractor after the supply of the Honeywell 1700 universal digital indicator that will run
for a specified duration, which will be agreed by both parties, or such a time that the ZPC
Engineer sees befitting.

7. GLOSSARY

In interpreting this Specification, the following words have these meaning assigned to them:

Contract – shall mean the agreement between ZPC and the Contractor for the execution of
the works howsoever made.

Contractor – the successful Tenderer appointed in writing to execute the works and shall
include the Contractors legal personal representatives, successors and permitted assigns.

Engineer – the Power Plant Manager, Bulawayo Power Station, or the person notified in
writing by the Power Plant Manager to the Contractor as the Engineer of the Contract.
