(S.W.O.T):

major competitors.
Woodpecker’s Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threat Analysis:
Strengths Weaknesses

 Proper Health Code maintained store  Limited Flexibility in price
 High quality upcycled product  Competitors can offer similar products
 Great Customer Services easily
 Variety in Design  Too dependent on suppliers
 Reasonable price

Opportunities Threats

 Ability to expand the online business  Products are already sold by major
further competitors
 Ability to develop additional stores  Limited Store space
 Affiliate relations with the vendors  The limit of upcycling a product
 Development of proprietary product

Strengths:
1. Well managed online store: Woodpecker has a very well managed website where the
products are organized in a proper way that will help the customer to find what they are
looking for in a short amount of time just by searching. The products are categorized nicely
so that customers can look for specific category in a specific section.
2. Proper Health Code maintained store: Besides the online store the actual store is also very
organized and follows proper health codes while doing business because of this time of
pandemic. Such as providing hand sanitizer at the door. Not letting more than 6 people enter
at a time. Making sure everyone is wearing a mask.
3. High quality upcycled product: Even though the products are upcycled they are very high
quality and most definitely worth the price. The products are very niche quality and made
ready to use.
4. Great Customer Services: In the store the customers are provided with certain services that
they deserve. The employees help the customers to select by listening their needs and
suggesting them the perfect choice.
5. Variety in Design: There varieties of design in the store both online and offline for the
customer to choose from. The variety comes in many ways such as difference in colour
difference in types of design and most importantly types of materials used.
6. Reasonable Price: The prices of all the furniture is very reasonable. The prices are set
considering the targeted customers. So the customers can be satisfied by the small price they
have to pay for such a high quality product.

Weaknesses:
1. Lack of proper recognition: As the store fairly a new one so there is lack of proper
recognition. Very few person have actually heard about the store that is one the most major
weakness. There is no proper advertising done yet to get more recognition.
2. Limited Flexibility in Price: As the products here are being upcycled so there is very limited
flexibility in price as the price are set according to the expense of upcycling and the cost of
the previous product.
3. Competitors can offer similar product easily: As these products are very common although
the designs are unique still other competitors can easily offer similar products at same range
of price.
4. Too dependent on suppliers: There is a high dependency on the supplier as the products can’t
be upcycled without the supply of the original products. For that reason the shop is very
much dependent on the suppliers.

Opportunities:
1. Ability to expand the online business further: Although the online sector of the business is
one of the most powerful strength yet there is scope to expand even more by adding more
stuff and features in the online shop.
2. Ability to develop additional stores: As there is lack of space in the store is an opportunity to
add more stores in various locations in order to expand the brand in general.
3. Affiliate relations with vendors: As many vendors will come to sell their old products there
will be lot of scopes to affiliate relations with these vendors and overall create a good
relationship among the vendors which will eventually help to get the products at lower price
if possible.
4. Development of proprietary products: As many owners will sell their products along with the
permission to sell them using that product probably improving it. In that way development of
those proprietary products can be done.

Threats:
1. Products are already sold by major competitors: As we’ve seen one of the weakness is that
the competitor might sell the products we sell that is also a threat if the major competitors are
already selling those products at similar price.
2. Limited Store Space: As the products are large in size the stores need to be large in size as
well which is not always possible for that reason there might be a shortage of space in the
store to keep all the products.
3. The limit of upcycling a product: There is a certain limit up to which a product can be
upcycled. Sometimes the product might be way too damaged to be upcycled in a top notch
condition.

Objectives and Issues:

Woodpecker has set a quite achievable objective for the first and second year of market entry.

First Year Objective:

For the first year Woodpecker has set an objective to at least have 40% of sales and make sure
there is no loss and earn enough money through profit to invest more.

Second Year Objective:

And for the second year the objective is set to increase the sales up 30% more with a good
amount of profit. And also introduce new products in the shop.

Issues:
Since launching this thrift shop for furniture the main issue has been not having proper
recognition. In order to solve that Woodpecker has decided to invest more on promotion and
marketing to spread the word about the shop all around place to get the proper recognition it
needs to thrive in business.
