Our Mission:
A large number of Industrial Processes operate in very aggressive environment and are characterized by high
temperatures, high pressure, large stresses on individual components, and the presence of oxidizing and
corroding environment.

High Temperature processes with component temperatures

Our Mission: (cont.…)
• All these processes require materials that have a good combination of mechanical properties, microstructure
stability, and corrosion resistance at high temperature.
• Strength ranges of some of the potential materials that can be used at high temperature applications can be seen
in the figure.

Strengths of potential materials as a function of temperature

Temperature Capability of Metals & Alloys
The four group of alloys that support the bulk demand of Industrial Processes:
i. Aluminum
ii. Titanium
iii. Iron
iv. Nickel & Cobalt

Note: Aluminum having its;

• low Melting Point 660oC
• temperature capability limited to 150oC
Not suitable for high temperature applications

Working Metals
Commercially Pure Aluminum
(AA1100) – UNS J91100
• 99% Pure Al & 0.12%Cu
• A soft, non-heat-treatable and low strength alloy

Structural Steel (SS400)

• Most commonly used hot rolled general structural
steel (TS>=400MPa)
• This kind of steel plate sheet SS400 has some
features,like its heat condition,excellent Structural Steel (SS400) Pure Aluminum (AA1100)
freezing,even structure with pressure resistance
and its good mechanical properties.
• Making structural tubes, pipes, and various other
structural sections.
Watts Nickel Plating Solution
• Nickel Sulphate: The primary
source for Ni2+ ions
• Nickel Chloride: A contributing
Source having two major
functions;
1. Increase the solution conductivity
2. Reduces the voltage requirement
• Boric Acid: It is a buffer solution
and is used to control the pH
