1 Rewrite the sentences below using the words in brackets


without changing the meaning of the sentences.

a. The runner won’t finish the race first if he doesn’t pick up the
pace now. (unless)
b. I haven’t won the lottery, so I can’t buy myself a shiny new
BMW. (if)
c. I think you should take this week off to recover from your
illness. (if)

Expressing conditions with conjunctions
