Population

The total household population in the barangay is 543 distributed in 7 puroks. As per
latest barangay census (October 2019), the total population of Barangay San Marcos is 2363
composed of 1194 males and 1169 females. Purok 1 has the highest population with 553
population and Purok 3 has the lowest population which only have 184 inhabitants.

Age Distribution
In the barangay, males outnumbered females. The age-specific ration indicates that
female plurality only occurred in ages 0-5, 13-17, and 66 and above age group. The rest of the
age groups are dominated by males.

Of the 2,363 total populations, 30.81% comprise the child and youth group, this range
from ages under 0 year to 17 years. The productive age group has a total of 62.25%, comprising
the population whose ages range from 18 to 65 yeard old, this group constitutes the potential
labor force of the barangay. The elderly population has 6.94%, this comprises the ages 66 years
and above.

Civil Status Distribution


As to the civil status of the population belonging to the age bracket 10 yrs old ans above
of the barangay per the latest barangay census (October 2018), 799 are single, 851 persons are
married, 83 persons are widows, 201 are common law, and 29 were separated. Record shows that
marriage for the majority of residents begin at the age of 2-, the trend shows that inhabitants of
the barangay are cautious in the matter of marriage.
