Assignment 5
1. what is the main technique used for validating scope? give an example of
scope validation on a project

2. why do you need a good WBS to use project management software? what
other types of software can you use to assist in project scope management?

3. why do you think schedules issues often cause the most conflicts on
projects?

4. why is it difficult to use project management software well?

5. explain what happens during the process to determine the project budget?

1)WHAT IS THE MAIN TECHNIQUE USED FOR VALIDATING SCOPE?

GIVE AN EXAMPLE OF SCOPE VALIDATION ON A PROJECT
The only technique used for validating scope is inspection. Inspection entails
reviewing the deliverables to make sure they meet the stakeholder needs. The
Inspection includes activities such as measuring, examining, and verifying to
determine whether work and deliverables gather requirements and product
approval criteria.
Suppose that the project is 'installation of an assembly line in an automobile
manufacturing plant'. In order to validate the scope, the project manager should
decide few validation variables on the basis of the scope of work defined and
signed by the customer. Such points, in this case, may include a) the number of
power outlets in each station, b) the overall area kept for inventory, c) the
maximum possible cycle time based on the conveyor speed, d) pitch distance of the
individual stations etc. The project manager should inspect these variables with the
specification given by the customer in order to validate the scope.
2) WHY DO YOU NEED A GOOD WBS TO USE PROJECT
MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE? WHAT OTHER TYPES OF SOFTWARE
CAN YOU USE TO ASSIST IN PROJECT SCOPE MANAGEMENT?
Work breakdown structure (WBS) helps to divide the project into smaller modules
by which the project can be achieved in less time and cost. As part of managing the
project, there are many processes that are directly based on the WBS as part of the
Scope Baseline. They are:
1. Cost Estimation
2. Quality Planning
3. Risk Identification
4. Procurement Planning
5. Defining Activities for Project Schedule
6. Budget Determination
So, without a good WBS, the chances of your project’s success are very low and
you cannot use the project management software effectively.
There are so many so many software out there that can be used for scope
management. Some of which are: Wrike and Mavenlink.

3)WHY DO YOU THINK SCHEDULES ISSUES OFTEN CAUSE THE

MOST CONFLICTS ON PROJECTS?
Schedule issues often cause the most conflicts on projects due to individual work
styles, cultural differences, work-related tasks, and tasks within person’s personal
life. It is often difficult to coordinate meetings with all involved stakeholders due
to these conflicts.

4)WHY IS IT DIFFICULT TO USE PROJECT MANAGEMENT

SOFTWARE WELL?
Project management software is very powerful. It also assumes that the user knows
how to create a good WBS, enter task durations and dependencies, and understand
basic concepts of project management.

5)EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCESS TO DETERMINE

THE PROJECT BUDGET?
The cost budgeting process produces a cost baseline for measuring project
performance and determining project funding requirements
