Various factors account for the emergence and growth of management consultancy which
may vary according to region, sector, management function and project such as: client
size, wealth, complexity and structure; cultural values on advice; labor consultant supply;
investor/shareholder power; competing network-based ways of generating innovations;
and government policies and legislation.

A need for lean internal teams and increased organizational complexity are also among
the factors to the growth of consultancy.
