Daily Theme Corner: Bala and her various aspects

Smt.Sri: Could you kindly explain the significance of Bala’s birthday,like why is it
celebrated in May and in the star Visakham ( is it she is shakthi of subramania swami) ?
Asha Ma: Ambal took the form of jyothi and that jyothi is the vel in lord muruga's hand which
was given by ambal herself as a mother's protection for her son. This form is referred to as
bala tripurasundari by sri vidya paramparai upasakars.
That day is visagam hence Bala's thirunakshatram is visagam. She is a ball of fire, she sees
nothing, she sees only the right and the wrong, dharma and the adharma, knowledge and
ignorance so the duality. That is why she is so worshipped, she as a weapon will pierce
adharma as sakthi vel, she will remove ignorance as jnana vel.
So, in our temple we consecrated her in the temple with that star.

Smt. Sri: Could u also throw some light on Bala as our higher self?  I read a book called
“Living goddess” where the author writes that one who crosses this ocean and reaches the
other end is Goddess Bala. Also could you kindly explain the difference between Higher self
and Self of all?

Asha Ma: Atma in search of knowledge is higher self, which means he has the
willingness to accept and learn from what he sees and what others see in terms of their
point of view. So, the road to understanding begins, so he is in the path or realization
which is different from the self. for eg, it is like a graduate degree- higher self.
Self of all is renunciation of all known ideas and transcending into the unknown with the
trust in the only supreme.

Bala is only child like, so when one seeks knowledge like a child then he/she is the bala
of one's self.

Smt. Sri: So finally the higher self has to merge in self of all some time!
Asha Ma: ahambrahmasmi
Bala rahasyam is the study of all vidyas, upasanas,karmas and sadanas. so bala is
sukshma sakthi in everyone.

Invoking her is just not only by external worship but also inner worship.
Smt. Sri: Amazing explanation. You have put it in the simplest of words to understand.
Could you also tell us how to invoke our inner child and transform ourselves like throwing out
our ego mask?
Smt.Indu: You have answer in your question itself ;Throw away EGO!
Smt. Sri: Like goal is to be simple, but why do we want to make it complicated? Pressure due to
external? circumstances and society?

Asha Ma: Following simple rules: 1. willingness to experience the unknown. for eg child
likes to touch new things, like dolls, water, fire.
2. willingness to work and try something unknown.. a child also keeps trying to turn until
it turns, it will try until it walks, it will try to talk until it talks, so we need to be like that.
3. shed anger and intolerance. never say I don't like this or that, be it food, be it
somebody's nature; be it a place.

Smt. Sri: Acceptance is one of the keys.

Asha Ma: Yes, i think like traffic rules our life should be stop, look and proceed

Smt.Indu: See one small incident in everyone's life. How many of us feel our kids also
can give us good suggestion you think? MOST of us do not accept because of Ego.
Reason for many old age home is a result.

Smt.Sri: Also amma, why is Bala such a pet for mother Lalitha and all shakthis?
Asha Ma: Because jnanam is the highest among wealths and since bala is jnana
vadivam!!
She is loved by all sakthis. She is sharp like the dagger in her thought process, quick
like the march hare (rabbit) in her actions, tough as a iron in her punishment, so she is
respected and adorned by all.

Smt. Sri: So cute. Also could you talk about her playful side? I think she imparts knowledge
watching cartoons, eating sweets!!!!!!!
Asha Ma: Bala is courageous, that is why she is the warrior goddess; She is
adventurous, that is why She goes to anyone who calls her; She is friendly, because she
treats love and hatred with equal measure. She is the equalizer in this world. that much I
know!
