Crafting

I choose to do a hobby on crafting. Was this the right hobby to choose? I’m I

going to have a hard time making the crafts? Or will I end up regretting choosing

this hobby because it might turn complicated. I’m going to talk about making an

outfit. First, I want to get to know what is crafting and the history to crafting, then

I’m going to talk about how I’m going to make my craft project and finally I will

talk about how hard it was and if I archive making the Aztec outfit for my

daughter.

Let’s start first with knowing what exactly is crafting. Craft is something

that is man-made. Many man-made things are made because they are necessities

while others are just made because people want or desire them. Some examples of

what are necessities and what are objects that are made because of desire are the

following: A necessity would be crafting an organizer for your hair accessories

while a desire craft would be adding nice colors and more materials to your

crafting hair organizer. Back in the days someone making crafts was called a

craftsman as in now they are called Artisan or craftsperson. Historically, the people

that knew more about crafting with high value of merchandise would focus on

urban centers and formed guilds.

What I’m going to do with this new hobby is an Aztec outfit for my

daughter. I decided I wanted to make this hobby because it’s going to her first

birthday year and I wanted to dress her up like an Aztec since her name comes

from an Aztec name. I was looking for this outfit everywhere online, but I didn’t

get any luck on finding her outfit. In fact, on a website, I saw a comment of

someone posting that the Aztec is not a costume and its disrespectful for their

religion to use it as if their cultural was a joke. I don’t necessarily think that it

should be disrespectful for their religion because I believe that the Aztec cultural is

really beautiful and it goes way back to the old days. I’m really excited to see if I

could pull this outfit out for my daughter and make it look as real and nice as I can

because I’m a mom that always wants nothing but the best for her daughter and

have everything perfect for her. But to be honest I am a little worried that it will

not turn out how I want it to because I’m not really good on crafting things and

having the patience to craft and I believe that if you want a project to come out

nice and neat you need to have the patience’s for your project. I know for a fact

that this project is going to be hard because of all the details that the Aztecs have

on their outfits, but I have to try my best to achieve what I want.

What I am going to need to start this hobby is all of the materials that would

be an elastic band feathers glue gun and rhinestones. First, I took the elastic band

and measured it on my daughter’s head and waist so I could make the headband
and the skirt. Then I cut the amount of elastic that I needed and glued both of the

ends together. After I started gluing all the feathers onto the elastic’s bands

according to the shape, I wanted them to be and I also added rhinestones on it to

make it look nicer and with details. I did the same for both the headpiece and the

skirt. I decided not to make the skirt since it had too much boarding and details that

made it really hard for me to finish it. This process wasn’t as hard as I thought it

would be but I really didn’t like the final results, so I most definitely won’t use it

for my daughters first year pictures, maybe if I get more practice on crafting then I

will get better on making things but for now this was a really funny and creative

way of distracting myself on doing something else that I haven’t made.
