grindstone soft edges due to the use of light and
shadow; mostly dotted lines

hand axe profile inclusive structures

more schematic drawing method,

light and shadow are secondarily.
The characteristics are solid lines and
Wallner-lines.

different structures are shown with

the help of different patterns (fixed
sym bols)

The outline of the artefact can be drawn
with the help of rulers or a pencil that is
square with the artefacts edge.

Main ridges can be marked on

several dots with the help of pointing
down. Afterwards the dots can be
connected to a line. 12

The inner structure: Wallner-lines; Cortex (bark);
The Wallner-lines distinguish the direction of percussion and they are used to ad the three-dimensional
affect . Wallner-lines in the left, the light facing side, should not cover more than a quarter of the space;
on the right side, the dark side, the lines can cover around two thirds.

If the side-retouching is to fine, it should be shown in a extra

drawing.

Cortex-areas are shown mostly with the help of dotted fields. Their
dissemination is based upon the light situation and the form of the
surface.

dra wing techniques: stone artefacts

Artefacts out of rocks can have several presentation methods. In
regular stones with shell-fractions are drawn with Wallner-lines and
solid lines; other material with dotted areas or transverse lines.
