MARKET REPORT FOR MAY 25, 2021

EQUITY MARKET REVIEW
The market moved southwards today as the ASI depreciated by -0.08%, to close at
38,256.76 as against 38,341.66 yesterday. There was no significant loser/ gainer today as
some showed marginal price movements during the session.
13 Stocks gained (as against 18 yesterday) while 17 lost (as it tallied with 17 yesterday).
The session recorded same number of losers as yesterday, but few gainers while volume
traded was very low.
• A quiet start to the week in the Treasury Bills market on the back of tight
system liquidity. With a few interests seen on both OMO and NTB bills,
traded volumes stayed limited on the day.
• Taking a cue from the Treasury Bill market, the FGN bond market was fairly
quiet for the greater part of the trading session. Investors seeking out bargain
deals were the source of few interests seen at the mid to long end of the curve
as bids available were significantly different from prevalent offers in the
market. 45s and 49s were the most traded maturities on the day. Average
yield rose by 7bps from previous market close.

Investors’ appetite was very weak as volume traded decreased substantially. We advise FGN T-BILL PRIMARY MARKET STOP RATES
investors to trade cautiously though some positions may need to be exited at this time to
preserve value or reinvested in potential stocks.
