Abstract
the variation in the linear moment that a physical object experiences in a closed system.
The term differs from what we know daily as impulse and was coined by Isaac Newton
in his second law, where he called it vis motrix, referring to a kind of force of motion.
Collisions are interactions of two or more bodies in which there is contact between them
for both a specific and indeterminate time. There are different types of shock, elastic,
inelastic and perfectly inelastic shocks. All these shocks have the characteristic of
conserving their momentum or momentum, but not their mechanical energy, which in
most cases only kinetic energy is considered. Elastic shocks maintain the initial
momentum of the system as well as the total kinetic energy of the system. Within this
two bodies of equal mass and one of them initially at rest. Upon impact, the energy will
be transferred from the moving body to the one that is not moving, leaving the body
initially moving at rest, while the other will continue moving, the same as the first body,
an example of this is the game of pool or billiards. While the shock lasts, it should be
noted that in the contact of both bodies the energy is stored in a minimal and non-
permanent deformation.
