The Christmas Life

Luke 2:1-20
- There are three things that we should remember about Christmas…

I. Jesus came on earth

1.The Presence of Sin.
- We all have sin in our lives. “…for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God…”
Romans 3:23

2. The Problem with Sin.

- Sin separates us from God. “For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23

3. The Predicament from Sin.

- There is nothing we can do to pay sin’s debt. “As it is written, ‘There is none righteous,
no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They
have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does
good, no, not one.’” Romans 3:10-12

II. Jesus came to die

1. His Only Passion – Jesus came to be our Savior. “But God demonstrates His own love
toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

2. Our Only Possibility – We have no other hope. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there
is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

III. Jesus came to give us the blessing of salvation?

1. We Are Forgiven through Him. “…being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in
Christ Jesus…because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed…
that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:24-26

2. We Are Family to Him. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you
did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we
cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God…”
Romans 8:14-16

3. We are Forever with Him. “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have
told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and
receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2-3

Conclusion:
Taking Christ out of CHRISTmas changes it from a “holiday” to a “hollow-day”!
