I. COURSE TITLE: Content and Pedagogy for the Mother Tongue


II. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course includes both the content and the pedagogy of the mother tongue. The subject matter content
includes the structure of the mother tongue as a language, literature in the mother tongue, methods and
techniques of teaching the language, development of instructional materials, and assessment.
III. TIME DURATION: 54 hours
IV. CREDIT UNITS: 3 units
V. PLACEMENT: BEED
VI. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the diversity of the target learners.
2. Manifest meaningful comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge of mother tongue.
3. Manifest skills in communication using mother-tongue.
4. Exhibit skills in higher order thinking through art of questioning.
5. Utilize tools and technology to accelerate learning and teaching the mother tongue.
