DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAIPUR

CLASS: X
SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS
LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE
(FIELD TRIP)

Objective- Experiential learning through visit to Jantar Mantar.

Topics Covered- Trigonometry, Applications to Trigonometry.
Number of Students 180 approx.
Planning-
i) Students will be taken to Jantar Mantar in two slots.
ii) Individual Clinometer will be carried by the students already made in the school in math
lab activity.
iii) The students will be divided into groups of 5 each. Each group will be asked to stand at
a measured distance from the foot of any wall/ building then hold the clinometer at their
eye sight to the top of wall/ building and then the angle formed will be measured.
iv) The base distance and angle formed will help the students to calculate the height of the
wall/ building using the formula,
p erpendicular
tanθ=¿
base
Learning Outcome-
1. Students will be able to develop understanding of trigonometric ratios of an acute angle of a
right angled triangle. This application of trigonometry in real life will enhance their
conceptual learning skill.
2. They will visualize eye movement while observing an object. This will enhance their
observational skills, analytical and critical thinking.
